Team Fortress 2
why does steam say tf2 is only 26 gb big in the library and in the folder the pc says tf2 file is 40 gb big?
You know when you go to steam steamapps common. I click on the team fortress 2 folder and it says it's 40 gb big. why?
i have 237 gb memory on my pc. only 20 gb free disc space left even tho i only have tf2 (this game is only 26gb according to steam in library) , cs2 (33gb in the library) and war thunder (51 gb in the library) installed. In total that's 110 gb. And i also have around 20 gb photos and videos and other apps.
237 gb - 110 gb = 127 gb and minus the 20gb apps = 107 gigabytes

why don't i have more disc space if these games only take 110 gigabytes?

Because that info is from 2007, the game kept getting a lot of updates thus increasing in size.

They can't even update the depicted size of their game to be accurate :demoticon:

Lol why isn't it an automated process? Surely they can relatively easily hook a command/function to the update function detecting the new size of the game and update it in the DB automatically.

The 26 gb size claimed by Steam probably comes from a calculation of the size of all the manifests installed for the game which doesn't include content added while playing such as demos (replays), screenshots, downloaded content from community servers, and the Workshop, although the Workshop for the game is stored elsewhere than the game itself
I remember when TF2 was only like 11gb.

So manny hats and effects!
Also just remember than any community-made maps that have been downloaded also contribute to the file size.
