Lack of communication from Valve as always.
Seriously, it would be nice if Valve just said something like "Hey, we're aware of the issue with the item server in TF2 and are working to fix it!" but they can't muster that even? Would it be bad because it would set a precedent of communicating with players and they want us to get used to the status quo silence of the past 6-7 years? ANYTHING showing they're invested in the game would mean so much to a lot of people.

I'm just so tired of the relationship between Valve and the TF2 playerbase being so pessimistic. I wish Valve gave us anything to look forward to or be optimistic about. I mean, the cosmetics and war paints have improved at least. Does that signal they might start working on more fundamental issues?

when will you people get it into your heads, this game is old as hell there isn't going to be day 1 focus on this game.

just stop it, it's utter insanity to expect day 1 treatment for a game thats what 17 years old??

tf2 left their priority and main focus LOOOONG ago, they got other stuff to do man, you can play can't you? who cares about your pink unicorn hat, just keep running dawg.

Who gives a ♥♥♥♥ if it's an old game? It's still extremely popular and Valve continues to encourage people to spend money on it so they should be held to a basic standard, not "day 1 treatment". If you view games as some disposable thing to play for a few months and then chuck out for the new shiny trendy thing then I guess this perspective makes sense.

Yeah I care a lot more about not being able to use non-stock weapons that affect gameplay than cosmetic stuff. Both are affected.

it doesn't really affect gameplay that much, stock are usually the best choice of arms.

so everyone being forced to use them is neither a disadvantage or an advantage, it's just default so what effect does this have on your game?

sorry, but you not really understanding the point of an old game being a problem for developers who would rather work on new and refreshing things with new and different perspectives, you are the problem, you are expecting this game to be treated like CS when it isn't even nearly as popular or full of players

not my fault that you can't see it, delusion is a hell of a drug though.

edit: to hopefully bash some sense into your skull, we all played half life right, we all know how "popular" and how many people played that game or how many people died waiting for the third, we all saw what happend to that, or rather didn't happen, CS will have it's turn eventually.

Obviously the effect on gameplay would vary per person depending on if they use stock items or not. Most people I would say have some mix of stock and non-stock in their loadouts.

I think it's reasonable to expect a degree of care that's proportionate to the playerbase number at least. So, if TF2 has a fifth of the playerbase that CS:GO 2 has, it should have roughly a fifth of the people working on it. Not just 1 or 2 like we have now and the game in a barely playable state.

You can't seem to understand that there's a spectrum between the absolute neglect of TF2 that's currently happening and "treated like CSGO". Like if I were to say "McDonald's should stop allowing rat ♥♥♥♥ in their burgers" you would say "What do you expect from fast food?! Fine dining? This is a decades old franchise!"

There's no delusion on this end, just you making excuses for an extremely wealthy company refusing to do basic maintenance on a popular game that reached all time player count highs less than a year ago, as if a game reaching a certain age means that there should be an expected steep falloff in the quality of care it gets.

that's what you think, but sorry not how the world works, or how valve is run.

they use a flat structure, developers get to work on whatever they want and almost none of them choose tf2, so what can you do, you can keep living that delusion and cry like a 5 year old for change that'll never come, or you can move on and hope for the best.

Seriously, I don't know what you guys expect

Valve is asleep at this hour. This isn't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Apollo 13 where it's a red alert emergency, you people can go one night without your precious items and cosmetics, that's how it used to be back in the day. You people are so spoiled.

right? very likely this'll be fixed later, but you know if an issue presents itself it needs a fix PRONTO, ándale ándale!

I'm very aware that it's a flat structure. I'm not sure why that makes it any more okay for them to neglect a game. You stay complacent and numb to the status quo, I'll continue thinking it's reasonable to expect the bare minimum in game upkeep from a company as large as Valve. Not even that, but basic communication, like "we're aware of the issue and expect to have the servers back up tomorrow" if they aren't expecting the issue to be fixed tonight. You acting like I'm being unreasonable here really shows how complacent and content with the status quo you are. If you are, then fine, but don't act surprised when others aren't.

No, but I think there should be a statement like "we're aware of the issue and are working to fix it". I guess that means I think it should be treated like CS:GO or some Day 1 game though, right?

Thanks for showing you can't distinguish between fixing a problem immediately and acknowledging a problem exists to people.
