Serious tip: Going hatless as a Spy is the ultimate meta cosmetic-loadout. People will underestimate you because you look like you're new, and rage harder when "that hatless spy" dominates them. And isn't it the Spy's job in deception?

You can make the Automatic Pilot outfit maybe? With the
Aviator Assassin (1.44 ref)
and the
Sky Captain (2 ref).
It's a little bit more expensive, but most prices of Spy clothes arn't worth 1.44 ref, and 0.44 ref only cost 4 weapons extra to make...

Choosing a loadout is too damn stressful and honestly, I like the look of the mercs..

You probably have a good, cheap spy cosmetic loadout now, but as of October 2017, I find the Stealth Steeler (A robot version of the Fancy Fedora) and the Blood Banker good hats/items. Their prices don't go above 2 ref, Stealth Steeler being about 1.11 to 1.22, whilst the Blood Banker is 1.55-1.66 ref.
