It’s only really functional paired with the phlog even then it kinda gets knocked out by the flare guns, but if you love the phlog and there’s pesky pyros on the enemy team and you want to be helpful to your team, then it has a use.

It's probably the most forgettable pyro secondary but you can do way worse

I want to love the mannmelter but it's broken and not in a good way.

My favorite anecdote with the mannmelter is absorbing a crit while having 9 stored and having the crit count reset to 0. Then voicing my grievances in chat and having someone on the opposite team ask me "Why are you using the mannmelter you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥". Then I got kicked by my team. I wasn't even mad.

MM always has extremely fast flares & does everything it does regardless of you having the phlog.

yeah but it sucks compared to flares usually but with phlog you don't have airblast so the manmelter then has that use which also rewards you for using it.

It's alright, it does have a visual issue while extinguishing teammates but other than that it's like a flare gun that can grant you crits on demand

If the enemy team has alot of pyros or a scorch shot spammer tou can combine it with phlog to get infinite crits on your manmelter by farming burning teammates and get more crits for your phlog by spamming crit manmelter things from accross the map

Manmelter is better than the flare gun and Scorch Shot, and probably just as good as the Detonator. It has ridiculously fast flares (52% faster than the Direct Hit) and it can store a bunch of crits which can be used on demand at people across the map, instead of needing to fire a much slower flare across the map, hit someone, spend 2 seconds reloading, then hope that they didn't extinguish themself, didn't have someone else extinguish them, didn't heal, didn't go behind cover, and didn't kill you, so that you can then try to fire a second flare and hope it hits them to crit them. Manmelter just fires 1 flare to hit them and crit them, 1 flare that's much faster and harder to dodge.
