I was playing as spy in a match when a pyro used the Homewrecker on a sapper when I had already killed the engineer. I got salty and told the pyro that the homewrecker is unfair and that he shouldn't have a weapon that hard counters spy when pyro can already do that naturally. He replies saying that pyro should be able to do this and that "this is TEAM fortress 2."
What? He's saying that the weapon with virtually no downsides to the pyro is good for team play? One that can counter the last thing spy can do against the engineer? One that limits options and nullifies one of the most core class interactions in the game, spy vs engie? For a class that is already limited in use? THAT is healthy for the game? I think that thought is stupid!

Pyro is a positional class, it makes sense he’s also near an engineer, which makes it necessary to protect him and his buildings. Spy relies on awareness and mistakes, he is considerably weak in combat. Your better using demo or an uber charge.

I like the interaction between Engi, Spy and Pyro (and Heavy, to some extent), but the Homewrecker is overkill. Usually, it's not needed, and only serves to annoy Spies though.

homewrecker isn't really needed as the engineer should focus on the gun and you removing the spy

if the engie gets stabbed then you probably weren't watching the gun/nest to begin with

Since its a team based game someone corrected his mistake, albeit a pyro no longer in combat and positioned away from the battle. In your part someone could utilize a damaged nest or have made a small advance to finish. In other words teammwork I suppose.
