It does annoy me though that we can't make Avatar's at the same quality as ones you can buy with points. They bought ones are never blurry. So far, at least to my best efforts, it's always blurry in one of the ways their displayed, often when you high light them on discussion forums, where the image size is changed.
I'm fine with points.
I hate awards giving points, which makes people create obviously bad topics to farm awards for points though. It was so obvious that people would spam discussion boards to farm these when they did...
Got my typical "just deal with it" response from people on the Steam suggestion board about removing it. Hell, even just making "Jesters" not give any points would probably greatly reduce the issue it causes.
Though, it wouldn't also be a problem if idiots would stop rewarding bad behavior and not give rewards in the first place. But, I have no control over that.
awards are worse
Those are from way back when the badges were introduced and they're static. I mean just take a look at the Dota point shop page, they got pretty much everything and I'd really like to see that happen with TF2.
I get that people are really miffed about steam points, but it would give a bit more life to the community. Don't get me wrong, it would be just another cool way to showcase one of my favorite games and that's the whole point.
I get what you're saying and honestly I feel the same way, that's why I'd like to see animated backgrounds or a game profile with them. In essence it's just another way to promote the game and I'm pretty sure a bunch of people would use it.
I can't tell you how many times I searched for a game just because I saw someone use an animated avatar from it.
I just want to see TF2 get the same treatment as CS and DOTA in a matter of a point shop, but yeah as far as I can see this community hub is mostly oriented about the game being dead and abandoned by Valve. Steam points are obviously bad for certain people and the main attraction seems to be sending joker awards to anyone who posts anything that tickles their mind.
