Is Gunslinger Engineer the best way to practice my Shotgun aim?
Is playing Engineer with the Gunslinger (150 HP) on MGE the best way to practice my Shotgun aim?

You can practice shotgun aim with any class that uses a Shotgun, including Scout... Just pick one and run with it.

Yes, but movement speed is a big factor.

Shouldn't factor in enough to matter when you're just learning to land meat shots. At worst, you'll just have to adjust a little bit to the other characters who use shotguns.

The best way to practice your shotgun aim is by using your shotgun

Get a loadout with the Widowmaker and Gunslinger, and go play a lot of attack on payload.

MGE is just one facet of combat. It is not a guaranteed instant skill boost.

1v1 combat does not translate 100% to 12v12 combat.
Nor does it really teach you how to play Engineer, and even if you're a gunslinger god, you're still not going to be running around on the front lines picking fights with Scouts and Soldiers.

wouldn't say "the best way"
Honestly I used to be an engineer main and honed my shotgun aim playing battle engie in pubs. You were basically scout but slower paced.

Obviously there’s better ways, but mge is pretty boring. Just please don’t play battle engineer on mge

Oftentimes you will hear tips for aiming better such as “play quake/doom and then try tf2.” This because movement is so much faster that tf2 seems like superhot in comparison.

For new players, aiming is troubling enough as well as learning scout’s movement. Slowing the game down for beginners can be helpful when teaching them how to play.

in mge? play shotgun only pyro instead to last longer and therefore shoot more even on a losing streak.
widowmaker if you somehow need more than six shots in a 1v1, but really how could that happen in a mge?

as for whether pubs help practice aim better, not sure. many in there are not very good (and here i mean even bots on expert mode would challenge you more), and even decent players are not focused on evading your shots. in the case where you want to try, widowmaker only engie may be the stuff since bottomless clip. else shotgun only pyro, or shotgun or the fatter classes.

tbvh shotgun aim translates well across almost all classes. you really need scout level of difference to have a different main aim style and even then, you can actually practice all aim style on that class if you actually try more than timing shots with your strafes.
