How good does the game run on Linux?
Thinking about going on over and not waiting till 2025.

i mean you could try running the game but it will be kinda laggy just saying though tf2 is 16 years old i would say your fine with it i dont know though

So it runs worse on linux?
It will likely run better on Linux as most desktop OSs are less cpu heavy, due to less background tasks.

I would just install Linux Mint XFCE edition and give it a shot. It should be pretty lightweight while still being userfriendly.

Also I would say that anything >8gb ram doesn't really matter for TF2.
TF2 can't use more than 4 gigs and the other 4 gigs of ram should be there for the OS and other applications. Even though more ram definitely doesn't hurt.

Yeah I think that's the final upgrade I am giving this machine though. It's time to upgrade it off AM3+ even.

I bet I can find a Dell Outlet prebuilt that might be better than this machine now.. I dunno.

it works ok.
It has some bugs like the fonts sometimes being too small, the game not playing well with your window-manager and the sensitivity being waaay to high when inspecting your character in the inventory.
But it's generally playable. Nothing gamebreaking or something like this.
I fixed the font problem by literally installing Windows fonts that I coped from a VM

Buying a Dell is an awful idea. You’re better off trying to remove your tonsils with a rusty spoon than getting a Dell.

That's the manual way.
At least if you're on arch, there're AUR packages with the Microsoft fonts.
Another way which, at least for me, fixed it was seeting the -precachefontchars launch option.
