Team Fortress 2

Should I main Scout or Soldier in TF2?
As a Quake player, I really love Scout and his amazing movement abilities. He can kill very fast with good accuracy. However, i had always found solider more versatile, at least with the direct hit. I feel like the direct hit allows me to essentially be offensive, defensive, and supportive all at the same time due to how damaging it can be from almost any range. Like, if my team is blocked by a sentry nest and snipers, I cant do anything as a Scout, but as a Solider, I can destroy them as well as others mercs just as efficiently with the direct hit. I do have a funner time with Scout, but am wondering whether its more viable to keep playing Scout or to main Solider. Would it be better if I just main both classes?

Main the one you like more, both are very good classes

Soldier can be used 100% of the time.

Scout becomes detrimental against competent teams holding choke points. ... tho... I have seen some miracle plays involving pistols and sentry guns.

Swap back and forth

Thank you, though would it be viable to just play scout and only get Solider to take out sentries during a game or not really?

If you prefer the Scout then dedicate to him and default to Soldier when you see you can't push forward. Scout can pistol down sentry guns if the Engineer doesn't place it correctly / watch it.

You can always bonk with atomic punch through the choke point and try to snag points at the enemy spawn since Scout is sneaky like that. I've also seen Scouts end 18 minute matches early by capping final points this way. Especially if you don't want to swap classes.

I don't play Scout, I just know how to dance around with them to try and avoid their fire. Bone up on how others play the class because there's some whacky things he's capable of.

Soldier's a great class to have in your back pocket for anything that doesn't need a specific class to accomplish. Still, Scout's a great DM class and can be frightening to fight in the right hands, so picking him up isn't a bad either either.

Honestly, it comes down to your preference.
Soldier is a brainrot

Understood. Thank you.
There is no objective answer to this. Just pick the one you like better.

Scout, Scout is a fun speed-based class that allows for some INSANE plays, scout also captures points twice as fast and Scout has a shotgun so you can capture a point and hold it with multiple people coming, and if you have 2 scouts there, it will go insanely fast. And don't even mention 3 scouts at a single point. Scout is an enjoyable class to main. It's fast, it's fun, and one of the best classes in the game. Soldier takes a while to get good at and a lot of the time isn't super good without ALOT of practice and sheer luck.

I too like second amendment rights :)
why not both? people often have a few characters they like to play, no need to marry yourself to one. "Maining" isn't entering some exclusive pact, just typically the ones you like the most and pour the most time to learning quirks of
