According to it, there is a 3.078% chance to be awarded an australium weapon after finishing a tour. It also shows that upon being rewarded an australium, there is a 0.2619% chance to be rewarded a Golden Pan instead. Multiplying these two and bumping it up two decimal places (0.03078 * 0.002619 * 100) puts the chance at finding a Golden Pan in one tour at 0.008061%
Yeah, just buy the Pan at that point.
Buying it used to be easier - but it was also not 6k when I got mine years ago. Demand goes up and less people that already have them want to sell, so it'll only become more expensive despite the fact more are being put into circulation over time. There may be a point where financially you're better off just grinding tickets...
You don't get the thrills of gambling away your money in bootcamp.
The feeling of anticipation after completing a tour while waiting for your turn on the reward screen.
The rush of adrenaline you get when you see that third box thinking maybe perhaps this is The One. The One with the golden pan. Your username is going to plastered all over the video game as you ascend to TF2 godhoo... Oh it's just an aussie axtinguisher... yay!
Nothing compares
I agree about it being thrilling (and it's fun in moderation), but if you like MvM just because of playing a gambling game, do you really like MvM or do you just like gambling?
