Is it copyright to use meet the snipers audio?
I want to use the audio from meet the sniper for my own TF2 animation. Is this copyright? It will be uploaded to YouTube.
If it's not copyright, does anyone know how to get the audio? Thanks.

If it's voice clips, you should have no problem, because of transformative use. If it's the music, you'll have to take that up with the creators of... Bloody hell, can't remember the name of the movie.

Ah, damn. I was hoping to use all of the audio including the music to make a parody of meet the sniper. Oh well, guess that idea is shut down

if you're only using them for youtube videos its fine, its just a problem if you take them and try to use them in a game or a movie or something where you are selling it.

Maybe not. I have no idea whether Valve ever received the rights to the music, and if you only use a small portion of the music, then it should be fine.

the music forms part of valves intellectual property for TF2 so they are protected. But everybody uses these sorts of things for youtube so its fine.

Sweet, so now my only question is: how do I get the audio? I could record it with my elgato

rip it directly from the sound vpk using GCFscape

As long as you're not using it to make a profit or advertise something to make a profit, you can use it for Youtube.

If it's non profit, you give credit to Valve and Team Fortress 2, your good I'd say. I've made plenty of (awful) animations using SFM and Gmod using voice and music from TF2 and other Valve games.

Pretty sure I read somewhere that Valve allows people to use their audio in a video related to their game and they can use YouTube's monetize video function

I don't think the music I want is in the game, it's the one on Meet the Sniper.

You can go on YouTube, I believe there is a channel that has downloads for basically all TF2 sound files.
