Sniping with a gamepad?
hello community, i was wondering if anyone with sniping experience has ever tried to snipe with a gamepad (xbox controller/ ps controller) and is it any better than a generic mouse?

lately ive been shifting more into a sniper main and i was curious if you prefer a gaming pad or a mouse for sniping.

mouse and keyboard
pro:
// not a hassle to connect via laptop
// i am more experienced with mouse and keyboard
con:
// i still have a bad habit of "flick shotting"

gamepad
pro:
// flick shotting is not a problem
// over all aiming would be less 'sudden'
con:
// (for me) sometimes a hassle to connect via laptop
// less familiar with gamepad than mouse & keyboard

so let me know what your thoughts are, i appreciate any helpful comments

thank you, ive tried using a gamepad back when i was a solly main. of course that went downhill pretty quick lol. but now im suggesting sniper, who is not so jumpy jumpy and is quite static with movement, could joysticks prove better for steady aim?

no
lower your sensitivity and get a bigger mousepad, then get used to it

also, try the zoom_sensitivity_ratio command
it allows you to lower your sensitivity while scoped for more precise aiming

interesting command ill definetely look into it, and right now i do in fact use pretty low sensitivity, along with a big mousepad lol. my sensitivity is low enough to where i can still punch some scouts with a kunai. thanks for all !

If you are familiar with console gaming, then class such as scout or sniper might help. But usually they set it at high sensitivity since it helped to combat close quarter.

its been a few years since ive dropped out of console, as one of my cons explains. yet im not completely alienated to the gamepad
This sounds like shooting yourself in the foot just to be able to say ''I can snipe with the gamepad''
I wouldn't know really, I don't play sniper
You'd have to be brain damaged in a special way for a gamepad to be better or for you even to think it would be better in a shooter.

Well, no. Gamepads are humorously bad in a fast-pace FPS like TF2. Theoretically Sniper is not bad with a controller, but Spy will be your worst nightmare even if you have a Razorback.

But sure, if you're familiar with a controller, then try classes with hitscan weapons at their primary. And besides, Medic is also your best choice since you will only need to heal people. Have fun!

I’m trying my best with sniper on controller since I’ve been playing console all my life. I think controller on tf2 is not as good as I had hoped. I think the best settings for controller is a low sensitivity and linear stick curve
