How to create a private server to play with friends only?
I'm not sure if this is correct. But on the main screen I see a + icon next to Servers under MvM Play Co-Op...

So after hitting that and filling in the name and password... Do I just tell my friend to look for the name of the server in the public list and then they join it by entering in the password that I supplied? Or is there another method involved?

There are sites that let you rent servers for free for one day.
The servers are private and you get a password

Well besides renting servers for free, is there an alternative or easier method? I see a + button to create a server in the game, so this has to be the right way to do it?

Sigh, wish there was a quick and easy way to create and host your own server for you and your friends to play only from within the game.

That way you make a local server, you can load and play any map you want but I honestly don't know if a friend can join you.
Probably not.
If your router is set up right, but I kind of doubt most are without some basic tinkering.

If the OP doesn't know what they're doing, I'd suggest they "practice" on their local server until they do, so that they can minimize the amount of troubleshooting they'd run into

That's what the Create Server button is.

I know how to port forward and stuff, I've done it many times. That's not a problem. But what ports specifically do I need to forward, and should it be TCP or UDP?

Some people told me Create Server button is only for LAN or local network only and not for internet.

use radmin vpn and make your friend serch in the LAN tab
