Fix for the mini-sentry
Looking at the size and capability of the mini-sentry, combined with all the consternation about them, I believe there is a simple and easy fix for the mini-sentry - limited ammo.

If these little "pocket" sentries are lightweight weapons, they should be limited in impact as well. I would propose that on the next update, the mini-sentry be limited to 50 rounds of ammo. An engineer can continue to spam these, but opposing teams can either engage or wait them out. Also, if the engineer cannot demolish them, an opposing team could leave them in place, thereby maintaining the 2 device limit.

- Does less damage than a level 1 sentry.
- Slower rate of fire than a level 1 sentry.
- Has fewer hit points than a level 1 sentry.
- Can't be repaired if damaged.

The mini-sentry isn't the problem; your lack of skill is. The regular sentry is many times more OP than the tiny, fragile mini-sentry which you bellyache about. Think about it; a level three sentry can annhilate an entire heavy medic combo but a mini sentry would be doomed. If anything, the mini-sentry should at LEAST be repairable or have unlimited ammo.

TLDR; How about you just learn to deal with the most under powered sentry gun in the game?

"Fires 50% faster than a Level 1 Sentry Gun." look it up http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Sentry_Gun
also it has the same amount of knockback as a regular sentry, per shot, meaning that it stops the movement of most classes and throws people off more. Did i mention it also turns incredibly fast?

Source?

Edit: Found the source, but 150 seems high for a pocket weapon. The heavy has to carry an entire drum for his 200 rounds...

None of this was about me dealing with them. Stay on point child. This was about finding a balance between one of the most hated weapons in the game and good game play.

Now answer me this; which has more DPS? The level 1 sentry or a minisentry?

  1. the functionality of the sentry isn't the problem

Well id admit mini-sentries should have a weaker knockback.
Also they are so easily redeployed with only half metal taken,so having low ammo for it won't change much.

But you imply that it needs be nerfed, child.
Please, be honest; it isn't the most hated weapon in TF2 for actual TF2 players. On the other hand, it is the most hated weapon for those transitioning their skill sets from COD, MW or some other generic FPS because these people refuse to learn proper coping skills.

TLDR; Nothing wrong with the minisentry, something very wrong if you keep getting killed by it.

It does if it cannot be destroyed by the engineer. The other team leaves them there, the engineer is done with mini's...

Any engie can detonate their buildings from anywhere on the map.Not letting them do so would ruin the weapon/class.

Reduced range or weaker knockback would be fine.

Nerfed, not really. No damage changes, no dps changes, no build time changes. Balance options are all that was proposed for discussion.

Considering the physics of how bullets now work in TF2, a weaker knockback would make the mini-sentry more powerful since you'd stay in it's range much longer.
