Team Fortress 2
Why is junction so hated
Ok, before i start, all those new players who have joined in this year, you might as well leave as you wont know which map im talking about, actually, no, go check this map out

So, why is junction so hated? I used to think it was bad as many players have listed this as one of the worst maps ever, and described the map as absolute ♥♥♥♥, low ceilings, indoors, small, so you can see why i thought this map was as bad as many of you may think.

But then i played it,
and i liked it

Heres why:
1) Look/Artstyle
If you look at the maps in TF2, there arent really many maps like junction, the only other one i can think of is nucleus, both maps, to me, look like something out of a james bond film, yknow, like a secret subterranian lair, red lights with junstion, an erie green glow with nucleus, lots of computers, and overall feel like some military complex, somewhere dr No would hide in.
Pretty much all other maps in TF2 all feature some sort of outside area, and while they are nice (excluding egypt, that map is cancer to look at), its nice to have some map variety.

2) ITS DIFFERENT!!!
So you cant really rocket jump (well, i can pogo jump and wall jump, so...), does that really ruin the map? so a sentry can lock down entire rooms, are you suggesting youre too crap to take them out? This map is really easy to defend, so that means blu team need to be really good to finish the game, its a sort of "get good or go home" thing, kinda like arena, another gamemode people seem to hate.
Whenever i hear complaints about junction, 90% of the time, its basically either:
"i cant do thing x in this map, it sucks"
or
"I couldent take out that sentry"
My answers to that are: get gud, and: well, do you want every map to be the same, where you can use the same tactics over and over again?
This map is not broken or poorly designed, its different.

If you have a chance, go play a game of junction, which is actually really hard as ive found like 1 server hosting the map and its a valve server, so the maps cycle, and mabye give this map a second chance.

just for fun, here are a list of maps that i like, but everyone else seems to hate:
Junction
Lumberyard
Ravine
Hydro
Watchtower
Nucleus (i hear a lot of people dislike this map)
well (ditto)

Sidenote: dont youthink its ironic that the mercs live in Hydro in expiration date, the most infamous deserted map?

They live in Hydro so no-one will discover their secret base as no-one ever goes there.

Point A is impossible to defend. Point C has more sentries than dustbowl and goldrush combined.

I like Nucleus too. I'm pretty sure I like Junction too, but TF2 is the only game I've ever played that I can't remember the map names in.

I practicly never play the default maps, the only one i like is hydro because its unique.

People don't play on anything besides maybe 5 maps at top. If they even go outside this small group, they get lost and it stacks the game.

Not including trade servers.

The points take a very long time to cap.

Solution? Singlehandedly cap as a medic while the rest of your team is getting killed by spawncampers! No, I'm not talking battlemedic. I did it by myself with a crossbow and solemn vow, no teammates, and fought 20 enemies (yes, some of them were people who respawned and came back for more).

Other than that, it's probably the spawncamping. It's incredibly easy to keep blu locked in the resupply.

So many chokepoints that favors engie spam and explosive spam. It does look good though.

The point of Junction is high-paced action revolving around chokepoints. Usually a great map to go to for practicing pushing/holding those chokes.
