By that logic, no strange of any kind is "worth" anything because you can just go to an idle server and max it out in an afternoon. Why would cosmetics be any different?
They're more for the owner of the item than anyone, though I do give most people the benefit of the doubt in uncletopia servers at least. I find it mildly interesting to see how many points, kills, etc people have on their stranges.
You can farm points on uncletopia like it was an idle server tho, you just have to play the right class, kills are harder to achieve than points.
