TF2 IN 64 BITS ?
Hey,
I know Macs were never meant to be gaming machines. However, I recently acquired a Mac M1, a machine powerful enough to play TF2 without problems. But the latest versions of MAC OS no longer allow the use of old versions of 32-BIT games. Please, is it possible to update TF2 to 62 BITS? This game is so awesome..

Valve is merely lazy when they don't care.
Which is about 90% of the time. They have legions of fans that worship at their altar because they made good games over a decade ago. Nobody forces them to care, so they don't have to. Luckily for them, their only real competition is run by a drooling moron.
When it's about windows or gnu/linux which now includes the steamdeck, they're much more willing to put in effort
I give the Steam Deck about 2 years or 2 revisions before it gets the treatment that all other Valve hardware gets. I have no faith in Valve to keep up with industry trends, hardware especially.

Eventually the copycat handhelds will overtake it in price/performance and Valve won't be able to keep up the cadence that it takes to be on the cutting edge.

But nice to hear me not being the only one who hates on the steam client.
Right with you there, it's absurd how clunky it is on every platform. Even ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ GoG Galaxy is better, and it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ GoG Galaxy.
And steam having hardcoded window buttons still sucks. Due to it being outdated chromium garbage, it can't use any design standards on our platforms.

On my system, almost all apps use the qt toolkit. Meaning almost all of the apps i ise regularly look clean and use the same accent colors, icons set, title buttons, etc. And if i install a new theme, all those apps will follow this theme.

except steam.
Someone once explained to me that this is because of the Steam overlay somehow, and that the Steam client roots are actually from GoldSRC, which might explain some things, being based on a 25-year-old FPS engine.
I still hope so damn much that Valve somewhat opens the steam client up to allow for custom interfaces which then could use native macOS or on gnu/linux. Gtk or qt toolkits.
Doing would probably cut the ram usage in half while looking a million times better.

So much about my steam rant
Yeah well, Valve's commitment to open source only extends as far as their leash on players. Open sourcing the Steam Client even a little bit would probably expose a lot of bugs in the system that would make it theoretically possible to make fraudulent purchases on the storefront.

At the very least it would be nice if they followed through with skins, but that's been thrown in the abortion barrel with most of Valve's other projects.

if you had money to buy a mac m1 then you had enough money to buy an equally good or even better PC but you failed

I don't know how tech savvy you are in terms of hardware,
yet M1 macs aren't garbage. They compete, if not beat many x86-64 desktop computers. Those things are absolute beasts, yet are limited to macOS and what apple allows you to do there.
And all we now have are m1 macs. Who knows how M2 will look like, yet it wouldn't surprise me if their cpus would be equal to high end ryzen / i9 cpus and more than solid gpus.

Just accept that apple computers are not meant for gaming, but rather as workstations and apple fanboys who buy everything this company releases :steammocking:

That was the saddest thing I had to drop when I got my new Mac… my old Mac got corrupted and now I can never play tf2… well I mean you can do some shady stuff with bootcamp but idk, I don’t think I can legally advise it.

Anyways, games are coming to mac because apple pushed some companies like capcom to release resident evil 8 on it, so games will come to mac soon, but I’m not sure if valve would, cuz they’re lazy.

Must be pretty ♥♥♥♥ if you can’t even play team fortress on it. It is a 2007 game after all :steammocking:

Also kinda wanna rant, I hate the pctards that think pc’s the only way to go and if you buy a mac you have brain problems. But rn, mac’s are becoming way more powerful than pc’s with its m1 chip. So sooner or later, both machines would be around the same of capability in running games. So you’re just going to admit that “I have a pc because I like it” or “I have a mac because I like it”. No more segregation of which can and can’t run games…

Looking for a better future for macs so that pctards can learn their places! But also so that I could just play games… plz companies PLZZZ

It’s cuz tf2 is so old, apple doesn’t wanna run it. It can run newer games like resident evil 8 at the highest settings with 200+ fps, I was also playing csgo high settings with like 360+. It’s just apple didn’t wanna allow old technology cuz it would restrict the macs power really
