I...hope that's not a horror-themed server. I'm not much of a horror fan.
I was afraid of that. Honestly, if I could, I'd probably just hunker down in an idle server and respond to drops every now and then, but I don't know if Valve has cracked down on those since the last time I did so, since I'm not really a fan of online games because of the toxic communities.
But besides that, as long as you're still new (speaking from hours and not how many years you've had the game installed) and as long as you're still given a hard time for this lack of experience, you just have invest more time into it, get good, and pull through to earn respect. That's just kind of the way it is.
Idle servers are never going to help you, because literally, you're doing nothing on them.
community servers and even casual servers do not DEMAND skill to be played to its fullest. you may run into the odd glorified pub stomper, but dont let that fool you, they may look fancy and carry alot of items but they generally only hog casual servers to get easy strange kills.
take it from me because i was exactly like that and ho boy was it not fun
