What is Australium?

I know that there are weapons made of this material. But what exactly is australium?

It's gold that gives you bigger muscles, facial hair even on women, and intellect, take Radigan Conagher for example. And also, is shiny, is good, is expensive.

It's essentially a fictional counterpart to gold. AFAIK it's valued after in the lore as it's a fuel source and a rich resource for trade found only in Australia (hence the name) and apparently has mystical powers.

Unfortunately, you can only get Australium weapons via the Mann Up mode. It cannot be crafted, unless you've played TF2 before the Loose Canon comic came by.

Yup. It was invented because stairs didn't exist during the time. Kind of ironic seeing as invisibility watches, teleporters and healing goop exist during the current year of TF2 (somewhere in the 70s)
