TF2 lagging on high end PC?
I get constant lag on my computer. These are the specs:

i5 6600k
MSI Z170-A PRO
GTX 1060 6GB G1
16GB DDR4 2133MHz

I tried putting anisotropic filtering to bilinear and disabling anti aliasing. Still massive lag and framedrops. How can I fix this? I mean it's a 10 year old game.

A config can alleviate some of the issues that you have with your PC, but it's not guaranteed. The config in particular is tricking the game into detecting your GPU as a GeForce GTX 660 Ti.
Where can I find this file? Is it in the cfg folder?
I watched Aar's video about configs, you may find the information you need in that video.

I'm pretty sure TF2 works better on older computers, due to ♥♥♥♥♥♥ optimization.

Is it ping issue or FPS issue?

It's on high. I doubt my GPU is too weak to run highres textures.

Now that's the problem. You think that the better the hardware, the wider the software library that you'll be able to access? Good Lord, Doom Guy from Doom 95 will laugh at you if you thought of that.

set your launch options: -dxlevel 81 -novid -w WIDTH -h HEIGHT

I recommend using 4:3 Resolution as it gives the most FPS out of all resolutions, now, to remove the black borders, you can stretch your screen through this: (Laptop) Right click your desktop and go to Graphics Properties and change your resolution to 1024 by 768 and put the ratio to Full Screen, next is go back to TF2, then go back again to desktop and reset your resolution back to 1366 by 768, now your TF2 is stretched, and your normal PC should stay the same resolution. For (PC) do the same procedure but with NVIDIA Control Panel.

Thanks. I'll look into it.

My GTX 1050 and quad core i5 gets 180 FPS on High though 🤔

Try updating your drivers if you haven't already, or turning your settings higher (heard that this makes the game use the GPU more, haven't tested it myself yet). Otherwise check if TF2 uses the GPU instead of the Integrated Graphics in the Nvidia Control Panel. Not much to say, sorry
