Black main menu background + Can't open console/options

For the past 2 days or so, I've been launching tf2 to have the main menu show up with no background, along with not being able to open console or options.

There are a few opportunities where i can see the console as it fades away as it does when it closes. which no errors show up in,

I have tried reinstalling, verifying game cache, and removing any huds. But the problem persists,
I'd really like to be able to play TF2 so some help with this would be appreciated

I'm having the same problem. I go to click the Options, but no window pops up for it, and I can't seem to select a game, either.

I've found upon checking files that I get this error, how the gametext.info is missing from the hl2.exe file.

If this is indeed what's causing problems, I do not know how to get it back.

yeah same thing for me whenever I click contracts it loads back then I click on items or console and it goes away

I don't have the Discord overlay enabled in the first place, and it's still black.

Do you have a hud or something of the sort?

It's not hud related, and reinstalling/verifying game cache has not fixed it for some. It isn't a problem for me anymore but IDK the solution

No HUD, no mods. Have updated drivers as much as is possible.

Still ain't working.

valve has to fix this. Its annoying as hell

One fix i've seen for this is disabling discord overlay, if you have discord overlay enabled on TF2 disable it

Also try getting rid of razors overlay go into cortex then go into i game and disable the hud
