Mantreads are terrible garbage and should have been removed long ago
Mantreads are a secondary weapon for soldier with these stats:
-75% reduction in push force taken from damage
Deals 3x falling damage to the player you land on
-75% reduction in airblast vulnerability
200% increased air control when blast jumping.

Let's break them down.

-75% reduction in push force taken from damage

Meh
Not the worst stat ever but it's just a bit much with everything else
Doesn't work as many times as the people wearing it wish they did.


Deals 3x falling damage to the player you land on
A joke with a deadly punchline
only lethal on vertical maps or on a soldier who knows how to jump good
rarely a threat
useless stat

-75% reduction in airblast vulnerability
I hate this stat
Airblast pushback, while I do despise it, is my favorite way to keep the joke classes in their place. However, I do not believe the "airblast resist" stat should ever go on a weapon
this definitely cucks the idea that pyro counters trolldier
makes me pull my hair out when a soldier just denies my airblast by using these boots


200% increased air control when blast jumping
The big one
the reason this weapon has remained a crutch
I love air movement in videogames
but christ almighty does this stat reek of "I'm bad at rocketjumping"
Bad stat

In conclusion, mantreads bad valve remove their code from the videogame and let there never be anything but the gunboats

knockback resist isn't that lame, in most cases it's actually a downside because you cant surf explosives or miniguns to safety. i'd say its fine

Meh, I think of all the classes to get it soldier should be the last
it'd be a much better upside/downside on a medic weapon
soldier just feels a bit off

- delete air control bonus
- delete airblast resist
- increase damage knockback resist to 100%
- make any successful stomp deal a static 1200 damage

and it would be fine imo

trolldier would be replaced with stomp soldiers who can instakill anyone
especially with 100% resist

since when are stomps anywhere reliable or threatening

do you guys just see stomps allday or something

they should be appropriately rewarded because they're ridiculously hard to pull off unlike the market garden

still, with the resist it just seems like a bit much
then again, I don't use them, so it may be harder to do than I remember

as it is right now a stomp ranges around 90-140 damage and now you're pointblank against a heavy or pyro congratulations also you already lost 40-50 health from the RJ

literally just doing a market would save your secondary slot -and- deal more damage and more consistently

stomp being a guaranteed kill is just mercy at this point

Alright, that sounds a bit less terrible to fight now
However if the soldier uses the Rocket Jumper and the boots still negate fall damage
an experienced jumper could easily play like an airborne spy and wreak havoc with no reprecussions

Also kind of off topic but does anyone else have a problem jumping with the RJ compared to stock?
