Team Fortress 2
When did this bot crisis start?
I know, I've been playing this game ever since covid 19 started but I never got around to ask when did this whole bot crisis thing started?

yep, checks out
the bot crisis was a thing already back in 2017 and 2018. burger isn't the only country in the world, you know. europoors exist as well, and we've dealt with this bot stuff for way longer than you gun enthusiasts have

First, don't start a war---against discussion rules---, and second, did you bother reading, say, a little futher back?

Okay, from my knowledge as to when the bot pandemic started to arise was around late 2019; somewhere around late September, early October in the NA EST sections. It was problematic, but it didn't become a true issue until late January, early February of 2020. Around the time of March---at what point I am unaware---is when the racial/homophobic/hate speech bots that would plague VC and TC was on the rise. Now, as we all know, around June-July is when Valve snapped all Free to Play accounts out of existence (fun factoid to plant here, when the first of 3 updates were released back on June 16, 2020, servers were actually cleansed for about one full day; following updates never cleansed the bots, but just made them spread more). It was then by, say, August of 2020 that bot creators got smart and realized that they can still chat spam and audio spam (sort of) by buying items off of the Mann Co. Store---Bazaar Bargain, Machina, Hitman's Heatmaker---and knicknacks such as cosmetic items and paints---and noise machines somehow---in order to use chat features---and vote kicks.

Besides, the way you're acting is as if tea parties are of more importance than burgers; EU is more in turmoil than NA. This is not a fact that I'm about to spout, but rather reality: all TF2 servers are being crippled by the bots; NA, CA, EU, we're all being shagged. No country is overall in more importance than the other: we all need assistance for these bots. Not just NA, not just EU, not just CA, but everyone requires help.

if you check my post history you'll see i find the U.S. to be the best country to ever exist so take those presuppositions and shove 'em elsewhere. i do agree the EU isn't the first who should receive assistance and that all servers are equally in need of a "cleansing".
when the bot crisis started
All of this would easily be fixed by improving VAC on linux, or literally remove the support of TF2 from linux entirely.

*coughs* Client support, not the server support.

Removing Linux Server support will kill a lot of servers or make running TF2 servers worse. IDR, if there is even Windows Server version for TF2 at first place.

Removing Linux Client support is better idea.

But there will be still one con:

It could create De-Linuxing proccess for entire PC game industry, which would mean that less new games will be created for the Linux OS, because Valve is one of the most Linux friendly companies.

it started with healbots pocketing human cheaters and evolved from there

why bother making people mad normally when you can scrape the logs of games your bots have been in and read these fourms
