gone fishing has Team Fortress 2

I can't use backspace in chat, and when I type the "A" key in chat, it clears all my text.

Some one had my exact problem in Gmod. You can find it in an old post by the same title, but none of their solutions worked for me.
It happens everytime i open tf2 , and affects every place you can think to type in. Chat, community server search, console, it's really frustrating!

You can bind keys, I’m guessing that you bind A to the direction you want to go, and backspace to delete? I don’t really have a good understanding of binds, so you’ll have to get someone else to help you

gameplay movement actually isnt affected at all, and i do have key binds, but i never changed the 'a' key or backspace... it literally only happens when i have a text window open, as if 'a' is overwriting every other key.

no, and this started when i installed the game on my new computer, never happened on my old one

I had the same problem. Or actually still have. Resetting the binds doesnt help and only forces you to rebind all your controls you were comfortable with

You must be on Chuck Norris settings.
You see, Mr. Norris would never have to use backspace because he wouldn’t make a mistake, and he makes you clear everything when you press ‘a’ because he believes the alphabet should start with ‘c’.
