Or you could just trade for the actual spell, it's just that a few spells are no longer obtainable even through trading
I thought I remember seeing several spells that were tradeable on backpack.tf,
Otherwise I'm mis-remembering things.
The Spell Items during the Scream Fortress 2012 event lasted from October 26, 2012 to November 9, 2012. Any spell effects that were applied to any items, along with any unused spells, were erased from players' inventories upon launching Team Fortress 2 after the end of the event. They were enabled and made obtainable again for Scream Fortress 2013, which lasted from October 29, 2013 to November 11, 2013. As of the November 11, 2013 Patch patch the effects of Halloween spells are only visible during Halloween events, a Full Moon, or under the effects of the Enchantment: Eternaween. Spell effects will no longer be removed from the items they have been applied to, but spell potions that have not been applied to an item will vanish from the backpack if the game is opened after the Halloween event. As of the October 23, 2014 Patch patch, Halloween spell potions are tradable even outside the time frame of a Halloween event.
During Scream Fortress 2015 Halloween spells were not acquirable for the first time since their existence during a Halloween event as Haunted Halloween Gifts were replaced with the Soul Gargoyle which did not distribute spells. Shortly after that the Tough Break Update made Halloween spells untradeable as an undocumented change, thus removing the loophole of applying any previously existing Halloween Spells.
