How do I join friends in different regions?
Hello,

I am trying to queue with friends in a drastically different region to me but we can never find a game to connect to, likely due to my location. Thus far I have tried:

  • Changing my sv_region value to the corresponding region to my friend.
  • Setting tf_mm_custom_ping to 350. [yes tf_mm_custom_ping_enabled is set to 1]

I haven't tried:

  • Using a VPN to change my region/location, to avoid getting my account whipped and yes I acknowledge that the Steam TOS does not technically prohibit the usage of a VPN whilst using Steam, only when it is used to purchase games for cheaper.
  • And a program found on GitHub called Valve Region Selector[github.com].

For anyone that can help thanks in advance, if a VPN or the Region Selector is the only way I might just resolve this issue by resorting to the aforementioned potential solutions I haven't tried.

It doesn't work at all. The other player is not brought in.
Anybody has a solution ?

I had a feeling you were full of ♥♥♥♥, Jimmy.
My luggages and balls are already packed, waiting for the Japanese gov to take its head out of its own ass.
