Release Team Fortress 4
I tought about it before- Tf3 could release with some few perks/itens given to tf2 players (based on how long they play to value of backpack) and a promise- a promise that any iten ported from tf2, no matter when, would be granted in a special unique quality (like vintage, retro or original) in tf3- and as markeatable and tradeable.
-of course, for that to work, no new aquisitions past a certain date on tf2 would count
If i were valve i would also go the other way around- everytime the team decides that x cosmetic definetly wont be ported over, some small token be given to those who owned said item. X scrap based on value or something else (after all tf3 could be very different). Probably some new valuable currency like idk, australium powder thats valuable
Id love to see valve move foward on tf2, not away nor just stick with the same thing- but that certainly can be done in ways that wouldnt hurt long time players and their valuables, at least not completely...
...and that could be planed in ways that would benefit valve- for example if said special itens were only markeatable (thus avoiding trade sites and ensuring valves cut), it would be a nice way of heating up the market of the new game
Just imagine if 1 year in tf3 re-releases a team captain and or flaming unusual- how much more valuable would an original one be then? Or how about bot-killers being ported to tf3 before tf3 have any sort of mvm? like high art traders valve could profit a lot from more scarce rare itens from tf2
Tf2 is the redesigned version of team fortress 'classic' /// so by definition, TF3 is a redesigned version of TF2?
but chances are tf3 actually won't suit your tastes
i'll just wait and see, really
But we all know that will never happen.
