When did TF2 die for you? (Yes, it IS dead. 30k+ idle & bot accounts are not active players.)
Mannconnomy and the Hat update. for sure.

; Unsurprising, considering the majority of the people who think TF2 is still alive are the F2P Leeches...
this is so true...personally I never liked TF2 that much to begin with and refused to buy the orange box because the game killed off what was left of TFC. I decided to buy it in early 2010 as physical disk, because of portal and the half life episodes, but tried out TF2 and it was worse, than what I expected. I believe, that TF2 should not be part of the Team Fortress series, because so much was changed and removed, like grenades and armor, although the characters got a much needed overhaul as well as more distinctive weapons. I saw a drop in fun, when the mannconomy update dropped along with trading, the store etc. When they released the F2P update I quit for a couple years, because new players were so bad. At that point I knew Valve was going to focus on microtransactions, rather than the game and so the game deteriorated over time and with the main focus being virtual goods and cosmetics, the game just died and transformed into some hybrid game/trading platform. To make things worse, Valve decided to add Meet your Match, which killed the last good community servers and added matchmaking. Now Valve ignores the cheaters that have been present in the game for years, because of their self-sustaining videogames.

it died when they ruined all those fun weapons like the sandman, bonk, dead ringer, etc in order to appeal to a non-existent competitive scene which already banned the use of those weapons in matches
Lmao
Stun mechanics are god awful, and Valve knew it
No one needs comp to know old sandman was super unfun to play against.
They listen to comp players because comp players generally knew what was garbage and what wasn't.

sticky spam was apparently complained about so much that valve had to do something about it during the love and war update

I don't mind the sticky nerf
I do mind the minigun nerf, it just forces you to rev up and stay on the ground like all the time

not at all

i was there since the very start of the game and stickies lasted a good 7 years without anyone good at the game complaining about them. there was little reason to cave in to your everyday whiner after so long

In that time players got better(skill wise) and then on the hands of really good players... it was too much.

And geez, it really was too much. Look i had lots of fun sticking capture points and avoiding damage, fully aware no one could remove nor move my stickies without killing me; Making the other team desperate so they all had to cap, just to blow everyone at once... marvelous...
...it was also kinda boring, unfair and to this day ive never been insulted as much as those days.

Come on. Stickies were op

Why do people keep beating this dead horse topic around? TF2 isn't dead yet, there are still players who play it, both freely purchased accounts and purchased accounts, and there are too people who still use it to just trade items as a form of making money---don't know why people just use a game to play Stock-n-Bond Simulator, but you do you. There are still content creators out there who publish videos and do live streams of this game; again, game can't be dead if there are still content creators. Hell, there are still people who put their hearts and souls into making content for this game. Either it be a map, a cosmetic, a war paint, an unusual effect, and these items do in fact get added into TF2. So if TF2 is dead, then why is this thread up talking about a game that is dead? Why are we even posting comments, like myself, on this dead game? Why are people making content for a game that is dead? Because this game isn't dead, and it still has vital signs. It will die off eventually, but not today, tomorrow, next week, or any time soon. Maybe within the next ~5 years or so, the plug will be pulled, but Team Fortress 2 is still around, and will continue to be around until VALVE says "we're pulling the plug". Is this how people treat people who are dying in a hospital, and there is a chance of recovery, you just say their dead, but they're still alive? That is how the author of this guide and the comments seem to act.

Also, where is your proof about there being 30k + idle & bot accounts? I'd really like to see this.

Imagine thinking a game is dead because you just don't like it anymore
