[SOLVED] Screen freezes but game audio is still playing
[[SOLVED]] Installed a better and more modern GPU on my PC, alongside better fans. The problem seems to have been solved.

Suggested solutions (they didn't work for me but they might work for you):
Validate game files;
Insert -gl into the launch parameters.

This often happens in casual matches, about 3 - 10 minutes after joining them. The game suddenly seems to be crashing, with audio even ceasing briefly, but then I'm greeted again with audio feedback but no visual feedback (frozen screen). I'm forced to open up the task manager to shut down hl2.exe so I can restart the game in a futile attempt to mitigate the problem.

I've reported this problem to other people in other platforms, but the issue was simply scratched off as "bad PC" or "bad GPU", so lemme put out my PC specs:

Have you tried to validate game files?
Locus Nov 25, 2020 @ 5:08am
No, how do I do that ?

You're gunna want to go to your game library, right click TF2, go to "Properties". Go to the "Local Files" tab and click "Verify integrity of game files". That's it.

Thanks, I'll see if it works

Tf2 specific issue?
try typing -gl into launch parameters and see if it persists.

Check or reinstall display drivers?
Locus Nov 25, 2020 @ 10:42am
It's restricted to TF2. Btw, am I able to check or reinstall display drivers via the Device Manager ? I'm unsure.

right click on desktop and check if there is the Nvidia control panel. DDU can uninstall you drivers, you will need to reinstall them. BUT before that i reccomend troubleshooting further before reinstalling display drivers.

This sounds like the display driver is crashing mid-game. Normally the console will print out a message notifying you of it, but obviously you can't read it. The only fix it just restarting the game. You could try to prevent this by updating your drivers (check your brand's website or their equivalent of NVidia GeForce Experience). This has happened to me several times.

Try this before uninstalling drivers.
