Team Fortress 2
Tf2 Messing up my PC
the first signs were not too large, it was when i started up team fortress, the bottom half of the screen would have multiple dark green rectangles for a few seconds before they later dissapeared. months later the problems have escalated. The icon for Nahimic, which is the type of headphones i use, would pop up in the middle right of the screen, although it did not affect my gameplay by much, it was annoying. i later found that i can simply end the task of nahimic with task manager to remove the icon, i am not sure if this made my problem worse or not even affected it. a week or two later, my computer began crashing from time to time, as well as game crashes becoming more common. Usually i would be playing normal casual when, without warning, the game would crash, any sound playing would loop with few second intervals, my only choice would be to sign out and then sign back in to stop this. today my computer messed up extremely. First, the day before, my game crashed seconds after picking up the intelligence on 2fort, then after signing out and back in, i attempted to rejoin a 2fort game to find my computer crashes, this would be the second computer crash from team fortress now. Now, today, i was playing more 2fort, when my screen went black, i attempted to blindly open task manager using ctrl + alt + del, doing this would normally close team fortess 2. After a few attempts, my home screen appeared, but all of my applications were altered, slightly rearranged, my instict was to put them back, so put them back i did, only after my computer screen blackened once again, and altered the app's position, once again. After replacing the mismatched applications, my norton security would not work. at all. today was also the last day of my malwarebytes free trial, and recently MacAfee has been saying my computer was at risk, i didnt really care for MacAfee, so i shrugged it off, assuming it was because of malwarebytes. After a few attempts at uninstalling malwarebytes, and norton updating, i think i am fine, but my mother suggests i uninstall team fortress, claiming it is the cause, her assumption is reasonable, but i greatly enjoy team fortress and i can only think the cause could be the one time i enabled htlm mods (they are always disabled for me) or just from other servers. Ive also done a full scan of my computer, with norton claiming i am safe with no risks.

tl;dr: been having problems with tf2, been acting up more than ever recently, i think i might have a virus but norton says im fine, my mother believes i should uninstall tf2, what should i do?

will my inventory be saved without me requiring to create a backup before uninstalling?

Do we have to explain the concept of a "cloud" to you?

Well, for once, you shouldn't install two complete antiviruses as they'll conflict.
Uninstall one of them and see if this persists.

Close any other applications like web browsers, music players, chat clients.

Also check when was the last time you upgraded or cleaned fan processor, processor, disk, gpu or ram sticks, it may be that some components have not been cleaned or are dying.

If none of that works install GNU/Linux.

You have to check inside the computer case for the fan. Search with google for "cleaning a CPU fan".

To check disk health you need something like:
CrystalDiskInfo[crystalmark.info]

Speeccy can provide information about temparutes of the different hardware components.
Speeccy[www.piriform.com]

okay so after weeks of procrastination and distractions, i've got speccy, but the thing that confuses me, is how could any of those components be in any shape besides good, this computer is less than half a year old, its quite new and a great gaming computer

Uninstall / disable you antivirus-es, run a complete pc scan with Malwarebytes

Try and run tf2 in a ssd, and not a hdd

A ssd*

Solid state drive, basically a hard drive that's smaller but much faster

People have reported that running tf2 on old / slow HDDs causes a lot of issues, ie lagging and crashing a lot and also sound looping as well, and running it with a ssd fixes them
