Resolution wrong when returning from Alt-Tab on Linux
When I go to another program from fullscreen TF2 using Alt-Tab and then return, my resolution is wrong and I cannot even click on buttons in the game anymore. I am forced to close TF2 and restart. Is there anyway to fix this?

I'm using Antergos with Gnome on a wide screen monitor.

I have the exact same issue. When I alt+tab out and come back to TF2 it becomes a small frame in the bottom left corner with a lot of black space and my buttons don't work after that either. The only solution I can figure out is running TF2 in windowed mode, but the Linux version doesn't have "borderless windowed mode" so my taskbar always shows my taskbar.

Linux Mint 20.2, Cinnamon desktop. Linux kernel 5.11.0-40-generic

I just tried playing the Windows version with Proton and ALT+TAB'ing works! But........

You can't play the game because apparently VAC disallows playing TF2 with Proton. I'm buying a Steam Deck and I want this to work. Valve, pls fix.

Now that this thread is back

I got no problem with res but that my kde plasma extensions kinda fall apart.
With that i mean no animations for the latte dock, mac like window effects etc.

Distro would be nice to know

For me:
Manjaro stable, kde plasma, 5.15 stable kernel. And an amd gpu because ♥♥♥♥ nvidia

Valve should definitely address that since the new SteamOS will have KDE Plasma!

They'll probably do this.
Portal 2 and Half life 2 also got some cool linux updates
Especially portal 2's update was very steam deck specific, such as SteamInput on LInux, Vulkan support, later on improving Vulkan support. Linux bug fixes etc.
Probably to take full advantage fo the SteamDecks hardware.

Would be cool to see especially Vulkan on Linux.
Then the game could litterely run up to 2 times as fast as on windows, in cpu limited moments like "100X mvm chaos server." Since Vulkan is much better alt multi threading than OpenGL or directX 9

Perhaps not for you, but there are plenty of reports of alt+tabs causing weird stuff for people on Windows. It does not happen to most people, but it does happen to some people on certain Source Engine versions. I remember it being especially bad in Portal Stories: Mel.
