the same thing is happening to me
2- people were complaining about the statues causing map gameplay strategies and balance to change (i.e people could use them to hide and cover in areas where they couldn't before, etc)
3- the tribute to Rick May was held on the month of May in respect to his last name. it will probably return again every year at the month of May.
Also Valve removing the statues =/= Valve hates the game. Rick May's time had come. Let him rest in peace rather than reviving the topic every two weeks
