Invisible Sprays & Purple and Black Squares

So I am attempting to get sprays in TF2, I will put as much info as I can. I save the files as .vtf . When I import them it is fine, but there is Missing Textures (AKA those annoying Purple and Black squares) where the photo should be. I ignore it and go on to spray it, it is invisible, but yet still shows that I sprayed it and made the sound. I have met all of the recommendations and did everything right but it still wont work. I googled so many different things but nothing met the criteria. Please help me with my problem.

Try making a folder for the picture in the custom folder and put it in there

sprays only work on community servers that allow them, im not sure how to fix the checkered pattern (unless you wanna install cs source and see how that goes), but the invisible sprays are fixed by just not playing valve servers

I don't use Sprays on VALVe Servers, I only use them on community
