Tf2 representative of cold war?

After the aftermath of World War II, Europe was divided into two sides, the West, led by United States and Nato, and the East, led by Russia.
If you take a look at the colors often used throughout Nato powers and the United States, one color you'll find repeediatly is the color blue (Example {LINK REMOVED}https://tinyurl.com/1c2 ).
Meanwhile if you look at Russia's flag during this era, you'll find the color red (Example: http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/images/s/su!lenin.gif) .
Is it a coincedence, then, Team Fortress 2, a game riddeled with refences to this era from characters such as Soldier and Heavy, has the teams divided up into red and blue?
If that wasn't enough, the maps this game takes place in oftentimes seem to be deliberatly designed to mirror the state of europe, with a
predominantly blue half of the map, a predominantly red half of the map, and a sort of gray area inbetween that neither side fully controls?
This is obviously meant to parallel the cold war. What do you guys think?

Dont really know about paralleling the cold war, yes the game takes place during that time period. However im rather certain the red blue and grey areas are just ways to tell whos area is whos. Red and Blue just being the most common colors to pit against one another in many competitve events. And grey just being the natural neutral color.
Think you might just be connecting dots from two different pages, the red and blue in TF2 is no different than the red and blue in Halo, Gears of War or other competitve games.
