Competitive is only 6v6 but valve comp is barely alive so you will have to wait a long time.

Play on community comp. Serious play is required (wich is refreshing for people like me that enjoy playing support classes and want someone watching for us), but it's nowhere as toxic-tryhardy as people would have to believe.

Yesterday I was on a 6v6 map and my team was perfectly okay (and even encouraged me during the play) to go Battle Medic for a moment, and two of my teammates were playing Pyro and Sniper for half of the game without any complains (granted, when they swapped it was clear the other team couldn't really keep up, and when I went for the suicide runs with the Blutsauger, we were 4 rounds up by that point anyway).

tf2 is meant to be played in big numbers, my favorite matches to watch are 9v9 pro matches
