Team Fortress 2

The SUPPOSED story of how it all happened
So apparently this source code was already public on the internet, although it was not well known at all.

Lever Softworks was a group of Source Modders led by Valve News Networks (Tyler McVicker). They worked on a bunch of source stuff and had a few leaked stuff - including TF2 source code. *they were not the ones who leaked it.

Long story short, there was a person who was transgender and this other guy/girl kind of transphobic ♥♥♥♥. Lever/Tyler kicked him/her out of the team, and the person leaked everything they had a retaliation, probably.

So now a bunch of people know about it. Some reports are saying that there already are remote code execution vulnerabilities for TF2

Supposedly he had nothing to do with it actually. But someone he knew did

Tyler McVicker from VNN had a quick stream this morning about how this all happened. It's right at the beginning after his little intro.

What a ♥♥♥♥. But then who created the remote code execution?

Well as it turned out, the person who "did not support mental illness" was the one who leaked the source code and because he was butthurt about getting kicked off Tyler's team.
Being kicked out for not indulging in someone else's delusions is a pretty reasonable thing to be upset about. Still shouldn't have released this stuff though.

I still think it is at least kind of ironic that the person who was against "encouraging mental illness" was also the idiot who decided to ruin Team Fortress 2 for EVERYONE.

Seems to me like the person was kicked for being a general pain in the ass and, delusions or not, drove off one of the most valuable team members for something irrelevant to the team effort.

No one. It's a vulnerability. Part of the code hasn't been updated properly (maybe) and it can be exploited.
It wasn't created to do harm, and it's probably something old that back then helped, but nowadays is deprecated and unsafe.
