High ping only on TF2?

Hi, I've been trying to fix this issue that's been a problem for me for only about a week now. For some reason, I'll join a server that in the server list has a latency of about 10-15, but when I join the match, one of two things will happen. Either I'll be at 160+ ping for the entire time, or I'll hover around 75-90, and get spikes up to 140 or so. I've already tried all of the obvious things, like testing internet connection, (this is a problem exclusive to TF2) putting in the default network settings in the console, and all of that. And for some reason, this problem affects me on most, not all servers. So I don't understand what's going on at all.

I suffer from the same thing too. I usually have 20-50 ping but I lag every so often and my ping spikes to 500. A message also pops saying I'm about to disconnect but it stops after a few seconds. Hopefully someone here knows how to resolve it.

Latency in tf2 is kinda messed up so join server around your server region for example,
I join a server that has a latency of 15 but its American servers, I'm in Australia so I get high ping

So search up your region in the server lookup and hit refresh all but you need to use the shorten version of the region name
Oceania servers: AU/NZ
Europe Servers: EU
American Servers: US

I get something similar. It looks like nothing on my end is causing troubles, but I get lagspikes anyway, usually without the ping changing much.

Yes, I'll join servers that are in LA, but it will still give me horrible ping.

I have the same problem, when I play other games I'm around like 70 to 80 ping' but when I play tf2 it goes up to a 100. my friend who lives in the same city as me has 70 ping. idk whats the problem

i have a similar problem. the home menu is fine. but if a join A SERVER it does not matter what server. ping is always 500+ HELP!!! I NEED TO PLAY MY TF2
