SourceTV demo bugs (and some fixes for them!)
SourceTV demo bugs:
Easily fixable
  • Victory/loss sounds play only when spectating firstperson
    • Reasonable. Not really a bug...
  • The view lags behind a bit in firstperson
    • Solution: snapshotrate = 66, deltacache 0, lerp 0.0ms, clockcorrection 0.
      Not perfect but makes it much better.
  • Occasionally, weapon skins will have the lowest texture quality
    • Fixable with console commands (mat_picmip -1;mat_mipmaptextures 0) and mods (CastingEssentials[github.com], mat_picmip -10 mod)
  • Viewmodel FOV is higher than specified with viewmodel_fov
    • Solution: viewmodel_fov_demo 54, viewmodel_fov [desired FOV] OR just get CastingEssentials[github.com]
  • The sniper dot is visibly offset up or down from the actual aim position
  • When spectating in firstperson between round end and start or between class switches, the player spectated becomes invisible (until he dies/changes class/round ends)
    • Solution: CastingEssentials[github.com]: ce_cameratools_fix_view_heights 1 + ce_graphics_fix_invisible_players 1
  • The FOV in thirdperson view is very low and unchangeable.
  • Changing from freecam/thirdperson to firstperson when spectating a medic breaks the medibeam and hides the medigun
  • Sniper charge meter missing
    • Get the server owner to install SrcTV+[github.com]
    Unknown fix/very complicated fix/unfixable
    • Occasionally, there are no taunt objects or weapon hiding, buggy weapon models present instead
    • Occasionally, the view when zoomed in appears to be stuck on a grid and innacurate (bug present in some POV demos too)
      • Unfixable due to how Source works. But it is partially made bearable in CastingEssentials[github.com].
    • Bullet holes are innacurate
      • This is a result of the innacurate aim bug above. Unfixable.
    • The Sandman/Wrap assassin ball is invisible in firstperson
    • No resupply sounds
    • tf_use_min_viewmodels 1 only works in firstperson for players that used tf_use_min_viewmodels 1 during the gameplay
    • No start round sirens
      • Tbh I'm glad. They are annoying.
    • In first person, the classic's laser will not be attached to the rifle and will float midair

Match spectate/recording system.
Without it, tournament viewing would suck.

Hey Meten, I though you may be able to help with this one issue I'm having with STV demos. Whenever I would view the recording I just made, there would be no issues. But after a while, I would try to view the recording again and the view would just be extremely "stuttery." This only seems to be happening to my STV demos as my POV demos are always fine and smooth. Maybe this issue is a bug? Or is it just some clumsy setting that I'm missing. Thanks in advance.
