Ali Baba's Wee Booties/Bootlegger Problem...
Hello everyone visiting, I have a problem and a update request, I want to have the swag of a shoe cosmetic such as Sole Saviors and also have the running speed of the Booties, can we maybe get an update where you can wear shoe cosmetics over the Booties, Man-treads, Bootlegger, and Gunboats and still have the Upsides and Downsides of the shoe? In other words I'm saying can we wear a shoe cosmetic over a shoe weapon and still have the affect of the weapon.

Inspired about my problem of accidentally buying the Sole Saviors and not knowing you cannot wear a shoe cosmetic if you have a shoe weapon on...since the Booties play a really important part in my Demoknight play style I wasn't willing to give up the Booties for some cosmetic.

that's an interesting proposition. i hope that becomes true soon

not being able to wear them together is for readability
people need to be able to look at a player, and at a glance figure out what properties they have

items with passive benefits or stuff with important properties are usually kept always visible on the player for that reason
you need to know when a demo has the boosts the boots provide

if you were to wear items over them, it would be hard or impossible to tell for sure without a closer look, defeating the purpose of having easily readable weapons and classes

it's unfortunate that some weapon designs take up areas that cosmetics also fill, but it's better for the game that players are able to identify items quickly

I don't think that'd be a good idea, since it'd make it difficult for you to know what weapon your enemy is using, which could be useful.
And it would sort of make it very slightly pay-to-win... I might be wrong here, but I don't think there are F2P shoe cosmetics, and the idea that a P2P could just hide their loadout with a paid cosmetic does not sound good to me.

that's also a fair point. spotting the bootlegger is an important piece of being able to tell if a demo is likely to charge.

covering them up might offer some advantages at being a "surprise demoknight," but it would also cause some imbalances in recognition of an opponent's strengths and weaknesses.

There's also the fact that there probably isn't (I might be wrong) F2P shoe cosmetics, and the idea that a P2P could just buy any demoman shoe cosmetic to cover a weapon making it difficult to know how the enemy is going to do things does not sound fair and balanced.

No one will ever notice your feety cosmetics regardless.

Guys I see that this may be a problem, but to be fair if the guy kills you and you see it in his loadout, if you notice that he is running faster than the usual character speed, or he just flat out tells you, then it’s not that big of a Pay to Win deal, also if your playing Demoknight 90% of the time he will have a shoe weapon...so there are various ways you can tell what he’s using f he is wearing something over it.

In the heat of the moment, you sometimes may not even notice the speed difference.

A lot of times you can't afford to die just to get a simple piece of information, and even if you can, it's absurd that these would be the only ways to identify the loadout. When you find the enemy, you wanna get a good view of his loadout first so that you can deal with them asap.

The enemy would most likely not tell you his loadout. Specially in competitive.

It's still not a good idea.

I think the real problem is trying to wear shoes inside shoes.

Maybe it secretly turns his shoes into socks

If you see a Demoknight...he is most likely using a shoe weapon...so it's not that big of a problem, I would rather have the ability to wear a cool cosmetic and sacrifice knowing what kind of shoes the enemy is wearing, also TF2 is all about fun, I can see it being a huge problem in Comp but no one plays that anyway, just have fun and appreciate the fact that they have a cool cosmetic instead of snooping around in your enemies load out.

Who still plays Comp, and like I said almost all the time if you see a Demoknight, he is wearing a shoe weapon, it doesn't really matter which one, just have fun.

My point still stands.
Bad idea.
