Tf2 scam to look out for: Comp player asking you to sub for their team
recently there's been a resurgence of scammers using the competitive sub scam. It's not a new scam, but if you don't know what this is, read on...

this is how the scam works:

A scammer will pose as someone who plays for a competitive TF2 team. To gain trust the first thing you'll most likely be asked is something like "what's your TF2 main"?

After this, the scammer will report that they play for a competitive team which is down one player, and they would like you to play. If you agree, they'll send you a link to a completely fake competitive site (which you can fact check using https://www.urlvoid.com/)

This site contains no legitimate links, only java scripts which will display a SIGN IN HERE (using steam of course). this is a phishing site, so don't even think about entering your details. If you do, it will direct you to a page which explains that the site is down for some unknown reason, and by then you're account will be loooooong gone

Link to a reddit re-post on r/TF2 explaining in detail:

Stay smart out there, and always google search anything that sounds fishy (phishy?)

old, I already meet 6 of those

They all have several accounts that looks exactly the same: name, pfp, groups, "Welcome to my profile" comment, low steam lvl, cheap inv, and that comp bio copy-pasta but slightly changed.
They all keep calling you "bro" and claim to have 2k hours in tf2 but when you ask them to unprivate their playtime or argue with them, they claim that steam is bugged or keep insisting to log into the same fake tournament phishing site

Happened to me the other day. I knew it wasn't legit as I'm not good enough to play comp.
Same old ♥♥♥♥ just served differently

You say not to do anything that could get you scammed, yet you have items in your inventory. Curious.

Not new but fresh. Also, never post any scam sites on steam discussions/reddit, because we have "smart" people who signs in.
