No one plays Junction though. 2fort is one of the most popular, which makes the fact that it's so bad even more blatant and painful

Ehh, I could see those complaints, as I've witnessed them myself. At least with 2fort, there is a wide space in the middle of the map, unlike Junction, which is Choke Point City.

upward and badwater are the perfect examples of horrible maps running on an already horrible enough gamemode

Upward has wide open spaces, which I like in a map, but Badwater, I concur to some extent.

The wide space is just made worse by the fact that a sniper can cover the entire mid and a team of 4 F2P snipers as is commonly seen charge bodyshotting everyone will effectively lock down mid and can only be countered by another sniper. The actual bases consist of ridiculously chokey tiny halls and endless staircases and the intel is behind miles and miles of choke points meaning you can literally clear out their entire team solo, run down to the intel, and find them all waiting for you when you come back. That map is just irredeemably chokey.

Yeah, I could see that. Indoor combat sure is dangerous in 2fort, which makes classes that deal splash damage really dangerous. As for the Snipers, ehh, depends. Sometimes, the Snipers are too good that they can deny any player who attempts to cross from the battlements. Other times, the Snipers are bad enough that the enemy team considers them as dead weight, so yeah.
