Team Fortress 2
Strange lag and stuttering on Linux
Hello! I just installed Ubuntu 18.04 LTS on my PC lately. I downloaded the latest NVIDIA drivers, the latest version of Steam and everything is updated. I have a Core i3 4170, a GTX 750 and 8GB of RAM, which is more than enough to play TF2. So i just installed the game but found a little problem. When i launch it, everything looks normal at the menu. But when i load a map the game runs at 5 FPS and with a lot of stutters, totally unplayable. This happened with CS:GO sometimes too. But other games runs fine, even the ones with Steam Play. The only thing i found is that when i switch the screen mode to windoned, and then, back to fullscreen, the game runs well, with 60 FPS. Does anyone know what this could be and how to solve it?

Yeah, i know that Linux isn't the best option for games. But i was having activation problems with Windows and so i decided to respect the law and switch to a free and open source operating system. And like i said, the game runs absolutely fine when i change the screen mode during the game, but every first match i play since i started the game, this low performance happens. I just wanted to know if someone could find a solution to this.

Yeah, man. I really wish i could have a original copy of windows. But in Brazil it's a little difficult since it costs almost a minimum wage. So i decided to stay on linux. I'm just a casual gamer. I just want to know if someone knows how to fix this.

are you actually retarded? first of all, that's absolute bull, and second of all, anyone with half a brain contributes more to their choice in os then just "how good run gam."

I can confirm this, gaming in integrated cards is worse in Linux than it is in Windows
