Team Fortress 2
Crash log location?
My game froze for a few seconds and after it passed, Windows made a generic beep noise. I alt-tabbed to check it out and saw an error dialog saying the game crashed, and I stupidly closed it before reading it all the way, since I was in the middle of a match. (which in-turn closed the game)

It was right after I loaded into Barnblitz and left spawn. (second blue spawn, made it around the second corner before it froze)

I was able to reopen the game and resume playing with my brother, but I couldn't find any error or console logs in the TF2 directory. Anybody know if there's a log somewhere that I can read to figure out what happened exactly? My game ran perfectly fine before and after the crash, so I'm not even sure what caused it.

Console log is disabled by default in tf2, but if you're having issues with crashing and what to make one, put these in your autoexec
con_enable "1" //Make sure console is enabled on start up con_timestamp "1" //Adds timestamp so you can easily find output for when your crash is con_logfile "cfg/tf/console_log" //Location of console log file

The location of the logfile is relative to your cfg folder, and the last tag is the name of your console log file. Mine is called console_log and is stored in the cfg folder inside tf

Best of luck

Thanks! Hopefully it won't crash again, but this will help out a lot if it does.
This seems to no longer work?

I tested it myself and yeah, doesn't seem to work.

I wanted to see why my game kept crashing right after the loading screen. I mean 1) it's a Source game which means that most of the crashes are caused by unknown errors that don't even have a little pop-up window to show you that it crashed because of that unknown error and 2) I have TF2 installed ever since I bought my current PC.

So yeah, I just wanted to know what caused the crashes because it was quite annoying. I guess I'll have to backup the important files and reinstall the game since that seems to be the only option I have left.
