You can crouch jump, it won't decrease your speed. Double jumping will.
How to know what can easily make you lose speed
Double jumping. (Don’t use the Atomizer for the load out.)
Don’t get lit on fire.
Don’t get hit by miniguns (especially Natasha.)
Don’t get hit by melees or objects that make you bleed.
You can zoom by a sentry but only in a small little doorway or area.
I don’t think bonk will help you with keeping speed if you get hit. Haven’t tried it.
Here's what you do: ignore your initial speed loss. Play a little stealthily and flank around the map. If you need to get to places, just double jump around as normal. Your speed doesn't matter right now because you are still the fastest class in the game at zero boost.
Once you find your pick, approach them as you would with any other scattergun. Obviously don't approach from the front, be surprising and ambush them like you would with any other scattergun.
Shoot them and keep focusing on dodging, like you normally would with any other scattergun. The secret is, when you kill them, you will now be at a high amount of boost and they are dead, unable to shoot at you and drain your boost. This is the perfect time to either keep on deathmatching if you can survive it, or use your new boost to make a getaway and plan a new pick.
Rinse and repeat, but don't treat your boost as something ultimately precious. That is only there to help you make a clean getaway. If you do happen to retain any when you manage to reach a safe distance, that is just a nice bonus to help you flank around the map some more.
This works insanely well
