Team Fortress 2
Autobalance sucks. why tf did valve bring it back? (from hell)
Valve logic: take the only engi on the defending team that's holding off the enemies (barely), and autobalance him to the enemy team, who now unopposed slaughtered the defending team and wins the game with a steamroll. For context, this was on snowplow, and we were defending the first point. the train had 10% left, and i was that engi. The second i got autobalanced, without warning or even being asked, my team was slaughtered. Before that i was barely keeping a sentry up with a big ammo kit and a lvl 3 dispenser, aswell as corpse kits.
Why would valve bring such an awful thing back from development hell? After a week, everyone forgot about it and loved that it was gone. Now you weren't punished for being good at the game! And ragequitters didn't trigger balances. But now apparently not only has valve brought it back at some point awhile ago, but now it doesn't even ask for volunteers!
One step forward, and two steps backwards...

It's what happens when Valve listens to whiny children that hate being unable to ragequit at the first sign of a possible loss.

The only people who complain about auto balance are those who were recently affected by it. Autobalance helps everyone by preventing 12v5 games from happening. Your argument is literally about your experience and how it only affects you, not how it helps everyone. Not to mention, of the rare times that autobalance occurs AND chooses you, it's only one game of casual that will amount to nothing. Also, don't act like you won the lottery of autobalances and claim that it ALWAYS happens to you.

How does it help me to help the other team by being moved from the team as the only sniper to be balanced onto the one with 4?

I spawned and the match immedately ended.

I didn't even have time to waddle out of spawn before Overtime was over.

Yeah, lemme tell ya. Autobalance does a great job.

It's not rare. These screenies I showed in this post are all in this month.

just a 30 minute lock from matchmaking wouldn’t be that bad

Doesn't need to punish on the first leave of the day. Repeat quitters get punished, players that run into cheaters/legit IRL reasoning aren't punished.

People complained to remove it. Then people complained that it was removed. Now people are complaining to reremove it. If Valve reremoves it then people will complain that it was reremoved. Then people will complain to rereremove it.

We never asked to remove autobalance. We asked for a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ re-work. Maybe add the penalty for leaving the game or add bots when people leave.

Here's the number one problem with that: YOU CANT KICK PLAYERS ON THE OTHER TEAM, which means that you have to ask the other team nicely to kick the cheater. and 90% of the time, your team doesnt want to kick the cheater. And when cheaters work in packs, you have no hope to kick them all. And even if you do kick them, most hackers either have a hack that allows them to instantly rejoin, or they abuse the retry command and the vote kick is moot.

So how about you use a brain and understand that kicking a cheater isnt easy as 123.

No matter how much you guys hate it , it helps the game to stay balanced.

you won't find anyone disputing that the autobalance system currently leaves a lot to be desired - but even if there is a lot about it that could be improved, i'll argue that this type of system eventually is a necessary evil.

the curious part is that the things that make it the most frustrating (switching when there's less than 60 seconds left on the clock, switching during overtime, switching players even while they're alive...) are actually things it didn't do before they added it back post meet your match.

why the fuck did they do that? even the people that teethgrindingly put up with autobalance because it was preferable to matches getting locked at 6 vs 12 never asked for it to switch people in the middle of the final push, just in time to eat their own team's humiliation-crits. having even numbers for the last 5 seconds of a match won't fix anything, and is not a pay-off worth the frustration it causes.
