Remove autobalance from the game
I understand the importance of balanced teams but when your team is just beating the crap out of the other guys who clearly have no idea what they're doing, it just sucks to get auto'd to their side and be powerless to keep your former allies from their inevitable victory, which by rights should've been your victory as well.
Either that or seriously, seriously, SERIOUSLY improve compensation because I don't give 2 ♥♥♥♥♥ about xp points, so getting 500 of them bonus doesn't really make me feel any better about being forced to join the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ team.

We get it, remove this thread.
Auto balance is a meme and should always be in tf2.
They put it in because that's what the community wanted... Even if it barely helps address the problems caused by unbalanced games...
Unless the victim person is an absolute god that shifts the tide of gameplay constantly, autobalance does nothing to actually balance a game.

Before Meet Your Match
"I want autobalance gone!"
After Meet Your Match
"I want autobalance back!"
Autobalance returns
"I want autobalance gone!"

All it does is try to keep team sizes even. Unbalanced matches are still a problem outside of that though. For starters, games still become unbalanced in the first place, and more often then not can become unbalanced several times in a single round.

The problem though is that during the time the game is unbalanced, the team with more people starts to gain momentum. So that when the auto-balance finally kicks in, it's already pretty much a full fledge steam roll by that point. Meaning the game is pretty much over / unfun even if auto-balance manages to balance teams before the game is over.

This.
Face it, autobalance is a necessary evil if we don't want Casual to be an even bigger roll-fest than it already is. I, personally, would even be in favor of going a step further and bringing back team scramble too. Why did they ever get rid of that, anyway?

lolno

Autobalance is a crap way to balance your team. Mainly because its almost entirely random. It pretty much reduces incentive to actually play properly since you've spent 5 minutes trying to achieve the objective and *bam* the game gives you a fat middle finger and flips you over to ♥♥♥♥ you with humiliation.

I'd say keep autobalance, but not in the current "mechanic"

Instead of just punishing a single player, you should actually balance the match so that both teams have a chance.
Autobalance around half the team more or less and switch around accordingly.
Punish frequent leavers by giving them match penalties for consistent leaving or increasing chances for being autobalanced.
Improve overall matchmaking so players have incentive to play competitive mode which has scarce players and several cheaters.
Reimplement stopwatch mode but increase the numbers of rounds to 4 rounds each, including team scramble.

...umm. I'm not quite sure I understand, but to me, it sounds like you just described team scramble with that autobalance "rework."
I never said autobalance was perfect in its current form, mate. We could definitely do with a lot less getting autobalanced seconds before the end of a match, breaking up queue parties, and autobalancing low-scoring players for no reason, which won't really help anyone. But I firmly believe it is a necessary mechanic and that a Casual Mode without autobalance, or at least automatic team scrambling on rolls, is a worse Casual than what we have now.

Not in it's current form, necessary evil is kind of pushing it though. Autobalance in its name is ironic, since it doesn't actually balance: it screws players who spend efforts only to be knocked down.

I'd prefer them not to punish leavers, because my game crashes every time I find a match while in queue for a Valve server, and then I rejoin after I relaunch TF2.

Of course, there should be a distinction between server and user base leavers, shouldn't be too much of a problem to implement

Really there's no logical reason they removed it. Except maybe because they don't have a way of keeping parties on the same side. It's less destructive, far less than autobalance, and it's more likely to actually balance the game. Hell it could happen in the middle of the game when things become too much of a steamroll and it'd be ten times more far than autobalance. At least everyone would be getting screwed equally and no one would be having fun.

Except Autobalance just encourages steamrolls. Initially, people are going to leave out of frustration of losing, people then get autobalanced, and then those people are likely to leave as well since all of their work was just squandered. Any nearly ending game with ragequitting enemies is proof of that.

This isn't even including the fact that you now get balanced while alive which screws over Engineers and Medics heavily.
