What are the biggest problems with heavy?
Something to be talked about if we want the best possible heavy update. the pyros did this so why can’t the heavies? I highly recommend when you point out a problem you offer a solution.

Two of my gripes are that:

Heavy can’t pull out his sandviches fast enough to save teammates. The guy has to un rev and holster a minigun to get out heals. An on fire teammate at 30 health is probably dead.

His shotguns have very very little practicality.

2 birds with 1 stone solution.
Minigun dropping, push R with the minigun out (it can be revved) to shoot a shotgun or throw a lunch.

With this, shotguns can burst last second damage or nuke someone, because your single point aim is probably better than your tracking. Your heals also becomes much more life saving, some stress off the medic’s back.

This also could open interesting voice lines. I don’t think heavy would actually drop the minigun but more likely briefly one hand it. Probably would look really cool doing it.

Honestly heavy can be REALLY strong and can sponge quite a bit of damage even w/o a medic, his main thing that should be addressed in the update is that he could use more minigun types (i.e a new minigun thats not a promo or reskin)

I can agree with that, the only miniguns that really brings something new is the heater and the Natasha.

Natasha brings nothing new to the table. It literally just lets you shoot at people longer, as well as slows the enemy down so your team can easily destroy them. Broken tier thanks to controlling people's speed.

Hu-long also brings nothing new, as the ring of fire is easily countered by jumping over it, and unless you have a Pyro, it's a downgrade in most situations, and you'll lose to Stock minigun almost always thanks to the lower damage.

Do any other minigun get slow or a ring of fire?

These stats do not change you holding M1 and firing at your target. You play more or less the exact same manner as with Stock.

Nat can combo with teammates and heater encourages a specific delivery. Are you only here to complain that all ideas are hellspawn?

I'm not "complaining" about anything. I'm merely explaining to you that your premise of "It has different stats" does not mean "It supports a different playstyle", because Heavy's primaries all play more or less the exact same of "Place crosshair over target, hold M1 until ded".

The biggest gripe I have as a Heavy main is the minigun rev down time that prevents you from switching weapons. I think that mechanic needs to be removed and instead have a switch off penalty that food items can negate. This would allow the Heavy to help his teammates out more rather then looking like an idiot as he waits for the rev down cooldown to end.

I honestly don't think any more miniguns would be that helpful. Of the 5 or so different types, only stock and tomislav get used, natascha is broken, brass beast just isn't useful to most people, and the hue long... well... hue hue

I'll probably post more later

The fact he can heal the enemy team.
Intentionally.
And ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ save the medic I was about to kill.

That and he’s a bit to basic in his weapon variety (seriously give him something more interesting for a weapon, like a sentry barrel as a brass beast reskin.)

So far the problems that multiple people agree on are:
lack in minigun diversity
Switching from primary to secondary takes too long
Blumberquack Nov 1, 2018 @ 11:37am
he needs more serious playstyles, he literally only has one viable playstyle
i still believe the fat scout should have a new accompanying primary and become a serious playstyle, a tankier heavy with a shotgun

Fat Scout will never beable to compete with a Minigun unless you get one hell of a broken Shotgun.

Making Miniguns actually have a different playstyle and usage would be far more welcomed than making memes viable.

I play heavy and my experience is pretty boring with him.

Roll out with the Gloves of Running Urgently.
Shoot with stock minigun.
Eat Sandvich if health is low.
Repeat.

His playstyles are lacking.

Well, here is my opinion in regards to the original question. Sniper, and the absolute inability to dodge. Heavy (for obvious reasons) is the slowest character in terms of normal walking speed, and slows to near enough a halt when revved (reved?) up. Despite having the largest health pool in the game, he is forced to essentially sit there and take ♥♥♥♥ tons of damage, and often dies quickly. Players on a lower or more middle level (Like me) might not always land there shots, but im convinced more skilled players can deal with Heavy easily in almost any offensive scenario (He is labled Def. for a reason). Projectiles or Hitscan, better players can almost always hit Heavy's beefy ass hitbox. And a good Sniper can literally r@pe Heavy. You peak a sightline as Heavy, and that ♥♥♥♥♥♥ is going to turn your brain to giblets. And if you peak a sightline and rev, the Sniper HAS to be dogsh1t to miss (Im one of those Snipers). Spy can be effective against Heavy, but Sniper is a nightmare where Spy is an annoyance (At high level play, there are plenty of bad Snipers).

In order to make Heavy better (which im talking 6's comp) Heavy needs to be worth lugging around, because I don't feel the answer to the problem is making the tank class more mobile, but Heavy would need a HUGE change as a class in general to be both better and more skillfull. We could just hike up is HP, or make his damage more effective at medium range, but Heavy would become incredibly cheesey. Your whole suggestion with the Sandvich being easier to chuck at people would be a nice change, but I dont feel it would really change much about Heavy. I actually think that would be a nice change though, just a little quality of life Improvement.

One possible idea I have would be to give Heavy overheal based on how well he tracks a target with his mini-gun. The overheal would be based on how much health the class your attacking has, with beefier targets giving more overheal.

Now, this idea is more silly, but because using a shotgun on Heavy is pointless, I thought up an Idea called the "Delicious Duffle." Its essentially a primary weapon for Heavy, that is a duffle bag filled with a bunch of Heavy's different lunchbox items, that looks and is worn like the bag on Scouts back. The bag would increase Heavy's movement speed to default, Heal him 100 health everytime he gets a kill, and give him a speed boost every time he shoots an enemy, based on how much damage he dealt. (Boost is temporary of course) Its just a silly Idea for "Fat Scout" Heavy. :P.

Oh, and finally.....
Imagine if Heavy could equip the Charge and Targe. Not saying we should do it at all, but just think of it. With the KGB.
