Should TF2 get chat silence punishment?

I feel that the older this game gets, the more children and toxic players are joining, therefore, the toxicity level is rising
I started playing like what, 6-7 years ago? The community was amazing back then, I literally never met a person that would tell you to get cancer or things like that, but now in every single game I play there is always either player that is either salty or toxic.

So yeah, I am fine when people tell you something like ♥♥♥♥ you or that what you play is cancer, but seeing with my own eyes that people are capable of writing something like:

"You should get burned alive ♥♥♥♥ing filth"
or
"I honestly hope you choke on your own vomit and die"
or
"Your mother should die before you were born"

(didn't make up these, actually saw these in casual the other day)

Really twists my stomach, If there would be punishment in form of chat mute for certain amount of games that would rise if you wouldn't stop being extremely toxic I think people would think twice about saying something disgusting like that.

the report system is already in place
it just needs to have more weight against non-cheating reports

Welp, did anyone actually got banned for being extremely toxic towards other players? I doubt that, this game focuses only on banning cheating players (even though, fails miserably [LMAO.box bypassed many times])

lol no, tf2 is a pure fun and silly game, part of that includes throwing banter and harassing people, the mercs will even insult people themselves for you

Probably why people disable all forms of communication now-a-days in a team oriented game were good communication can go a long way into winning matches.

Which I still believe is the reason why players now-a-days are far worse then when Team Fortress was just a freeware mod on Quake 20 years ago. Because people complain instead of attempting to help each other get better at this game lol.

It's a bit depressing honestly... I thought people would get better at the game over time, not worse then when it started off...

Yes, there should be punishments for obnoxious behavior, particularly the use of hateful slurs.

TF2 is rife with people who are out to prove they can be more rude than the next person. It's childish and tiresome. Nothing would be lost if it was prohibited.

Okay before you reply answer directly to the topic I started, don't twist anyone's words, not even mine
I know we can mute chat but my point is
there should be punishment for EXTREMELY TOXIC players, by that i mean people who frequently harass and insult real life person of a certain player(I'm okay with salty people, yeah it's part of the game, but intentional harassing shouldn't be), they should get chat silenced for a certain amount of time and if they behave the same way in the future, they get rescricted for a longer amount of time than the first time, by this they should learn how to control their anger and urge of insulting someone
