Friendlies are ruining casual.
There hasnt been any moment in my tf2 life where this issue was so severe I had to write a discussion about it.

I join a server. And the pyro who has the blu intel dances with it. He wont cap. He wont get kicked. People will just dance with him. Sadly they were on my team so after doing 2 failed kick attempts and arguing in chat I get kicked. Join another one, my team is made out of like 3 friendlies and theres about 3 on the enemy. I kill the friendlies and kick the them. I get kicked. I join a 2fort I go to the bridge. I see both teams dispensers sentries built dancing and partying. Kill the. Get kicked.

Tf2 has become the ♥♥♥♥♥ of the FPS genre. It has become such a joke noone even plays it to kill people anymore. I cant connect to competitive because of the♥♥♥♥♥♥lag. But imagine the people who are f2p and doesnt have access to competitive? They go to a server to play and all they find is dancing idiots who if gets killed will kick you. And for what good reason: Playing the game like its meant. Casual is a place to do the objective. You capture the flag or control the point. You dont go heavy and help the enemy team. The reason I decided to write this is this is the first time ive seen a ''friendly'' single handedly disabling a match. They just took the intel and wont cap. They wont even get kicked.

Their best comebacks are WHY IS THERE TAUNTS THEN HUUUUUUUUUH? Theres taunts in countless games. Have you seen ONE friendly in fortnite, overwatch?

TF2 has become a game where if you wanna play the game, you must play competitive. Absolutely pathetic. I know people are gonna write WHY U PLAY THEN HUUUUUUUUH too. I have 1360+ hours on this game. I am not planning to quit anytime soon. Why would I quit a game rather than make it better? The count of players and friendlies are a lot diffrent.

Some years later it wont be edgy or rude to call TF2 the joke of FPS games. This is alarming.

What are your thoughts? Should Valve punish friendlies?

Q ''If you dont wanna play on a server thats friendly, why wont you just quit?''

A Because as I said qutting the server has become irrelevant as a solution since the friendly population has increased a lot and most of the matches you will enter in 2Fort and Hightower you will see a friendly. It is dumb to leave a server to encounter the same thing again.

Q ''If you dont want friendlies, why play on 2fort?''

A Because we cant lose maps due to some idiots wanting to dance. I want to play a casual match on 2fort. Oops you cant, some dumb ♥♥♥♥ wants to help the enemy instead. No friendly captured any map, there are just more maps there are in.

Q ''If Valve knew friendlies would damage the fighting aspect of TF2, why would they put taunts in it HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUH?''

A Dumbest♥♥♥♥♥♥ive heard. There are taunts in several games yet an INCREDIBLY low amount of friendlies. Almost 0 people who go friendly for the entire match. Valve didnt add taunts so people could leave the match and just dance forever.

Q ''Why do you mess with friendlies♥♥♥♥♥♥ let them do what they want!''

A What they do is ruining what I do, and what I do is ruining theirs. But I think in casual what friendlies do shouldnt be considered right. There is a objective on casual a goal. Something that can be done by playing together and working for it. A pink heavy giving the enemy a sandvich isnt helping our goal or the objective. I dont think that should be considered as enjoyment or having fun, but rather feeding and it is a penalty in most MOBA games.

Q ''If you want to play super serious and never have fun and just see the only reason to play TF2 is for winning ,then go to competitive and stop whining!''

A This proves my point that competitive is becoming the only place to play a serious game of TF2. I am not saying its not okay to have fun. I am not saying its not ok to spare the enemy sometimes. You see having=friendlies is wrong. The reason why this became a issue is because friendlies do this for entirety of the match. They just keep dancing and never play serious. And I dont think I need to explain why dancing rather than helping the team is an issue.

''dont even bother replying anymore, nothing shuts him up.

hes just here to whine because people dont do what he tells them to.

even if every friendly ever quit the game, he'd still find something to gripe about. : /''

Nothing shuts me up because there is no solution that can solve this issue. You respond to my thread. Then I do. Then you say WAAAAH HE WONT SHUT UP. You always have the option to leave if you dont like. I didnt make this thread so people could shut me up lol.

Im not here to whine because people wont do what I tell them, im here to whine about how friendlies are damaging casual and there should be a fix to this.

Yes I could still find something to gripe about. There is nothing wrong with that...?

Soundsmith made a pretty decent video on this problem. If you get kicked, it meams that the majority of the server is friendly. The entire server isn't going to stop having fun because you want to play differently. Is most of the server is friendly and you don't want to be, just join a different server. 95% of the servers I randomly join don't have a single friendly in them, so don't act like it's a unescapable plague.

CS:GO doesn't have taunts, and I have seen friendlies in both Fortnite and CS:GO. I haven't played Overwatch in the past few months, so I can't say if there are friendlies there.

Again, 95% of casual servers I join don't have a single friendly on, so you can play objective all you like without getting kicked.

TF2 is, was, and will be a joke of an FPS game. That's what it's supposed to be, and that's why it's around 10 years later, unlike nearly every other generic shooter. Occasionally having a dance party with the enemy is part of the wackiness that makes TF2 so great. Valve shouldn't punish people for being friendly (in casual), espeically if Valve gives us the tools to do so. It's like placing a garbage can in a public place then getting mad when people throw trash in it.

I know the 50/50 rule and I dont care really. About 80% of the times I get kicked are when 3 players on a 10 player team goes friendly so not majority. Their description of ''fun'' is sabotaging the match and griefing. Sometimes even feeding.

Again. Why would I change server rather than kick the people who dont play? There are more players in the server than friendlies. So why should the lesser people enjoy the server? I dont know about you but 4/10 matches I join in CTF contains friendlies.

I forgot about no taunts in cs go. But in all honesty we all know friendlies in other games are INCREDIBLY lower than in tf2.

Valve gave us no tool to be friendly. Taunts arent made to completely stop playing and just crouch and take slot space. Cosmetics werent made to be given sandviches by the enemy. There is no tool Valve gave for friendlies. Yet there are tools friendlies use within them.

TF2 wasnt, can be, will be the joke of the FPS games. Since when was TF2 supposed to be a joke? Most of the tools that are in TF2 are in other games aswell. Yet you dont count them as jokes. Having fun with the enemy isnt a sin, but throwing the match is. Valve never gave a tool to sabotage the match.

If a match is being played and friendlies go friendly that match is ruined. Valve didnt want their own game to be ruined.

"I know the 50/50 rule and I don't care really."
well
ok
it's a good rule tho

And the way the vote system works is... the MAJORITY of people vote for a kick, so... I guess you're the one ruining the fun for everyone else? Ever thought of that?

And part of the reason TF2 is so great is that the gameplay is amazing and mostly well designed, BUT you can be as silly as you want. It's not one or the other, TF2 CAN BE a "great joke game" because it is.
Gtkp_ Sep 23, 2018 @ 12:52pm
Not personally a big fan of them but you can't do anything to stop them. They mostly just appear on silly and dumb maps such as 2fort and hightower. The fact of the matter is that no one really cares you're frustrated, if they're so irritating just find another match, they can only be found on Hightower and 2Fort where people don't even pay attention to the objective.

To be fair, if we get rid of friendlies, we are getting a huge chunk of our playerbase lost.
