Soundsmith made a pretty decent video on this problem. If you get kicked, it meams that the majority of the server is friendly. The entire server isn't going to stop having fun because you want to play differently. Is most of the server is friendly and you don't want to be, just join a different server. 95% of the servers I randomly join don't have a single friendly in them, so don't act like it's a unescapable plague.
CS:GO doesn't have taunts, and I have seen friendlies in both Fortnite and CS:GO. I haven't played Overwatch in the past few months, so I can't say if there are friendlies there.
Again, 95% of casual servers I join don't have a single friendly on, so you can play objective all you like without getting kicked.
TF2 is, was, and will be a joke of an FPS game. That's what it's supposed to be, and that's why it's around 10 years later, unlike nearly every other generic shooter. Occasionally having a dance party with the enemy is part of the wackiness that makes TF2 so great. Valve shouldn't punish people for being friendly (in casual), espeically if Valve gives us the tools to do so. It's like placing a garbage can in a public place then getting mad when people throw trash in it.
I know the 50/50 rule and I dont care really. About 80% of the times I get kicked are when 3 players on a 10 player team goes friendly so not majority. Their description of ''fun'' is sabotaging the match and griefing. Sometimes even feeding.
Again. Why would I change server rather than kick the people who dont play? There are more players in the server than friendlies. So why should the lesser people enjoy the server? I dont know about you but 4/10 matches I join in CTF contains friendlies.
I forgot about no taunts in cs go. But in all honesty we all know friendlies in other games are INCREDIBLY lower than in tf2.
Valve gave us no tool to be friendly. Taunts arent made to completely stop playing and just crouch and take slot space. Cosmetics werent made to be given sandviches by the enemy. There is no tool Valve gave for friendlies. Yet there are tools friendlies use within them.
TF2 wasnt, can be, will be the joke of the FPS games. Since when was TF2 supposed to be a joke? Most of the tools that are in TF2 are in other games aswell. Yet you dont count them as jokes. Having fun with the enemy isnt a sin, but throwing the match is. Valve never gave a tool to sabotage the match.
If a match is being played and friendlies go friendly that match is ruined. Valve didnt want their own game to be ruined.
its not long...
well
ok
it's a good rule tho
And the way the vote system works is... the MAJORITY of people vote for a kick, so... I guess you're the one ruining the fun for everyone else? Ever thought of that?
And part of the reason TF2 is so great is that the gameplay is amazing and mostly well designed, BUT you can be as silly as you want. It's not one or the other, TF2 CAN BE a "great joke game" because it is.
