Y’all might be aware of the Mann who started a war on Mannco facilities across the world (of TF2, of course). And for the virtual item traders, animal enthusiasts, japanese animation enthusiast and uncultured swines:

Anyway, many people think he and the robot army is evil because they attack the main characters without even considering that the main characters are evil.

- The main characters i’m gonna talk about Saxton Hale. Many people (especially on Reddit) worship him blindly without consider the things he did. The “honorable CEO of mannco” spend most of his time hunting down animals to the point of extinction, fueling an idiotic war, not giving a damn to “his” company even when it’s under attack globally, allows himself to be indirectly controlled by Miss [REDACTED] and many more. I’m no social expert but i’m pretty sure that’s the actions of a drug addict with schizophrenia, not a good guy.

And what did Gray Mann do ? Well, he killed his 2 brothers after failing in persuading them into doing the thing they should be doing 125 years ago, simultaneously attacking a corrupted weapon company globally, successfully take over it in less than 12 hours legally, spare all of it’s employees and allowing them to starts a new life (he could have invited all of them to a room and gas them, but he didn’t) despite the damage they’ve done. Sounds like a risk taking good person with family issues.

Many would say that’s just acting, and his true motives are revealed as the comics goes on. I’d say that’s not correct. His reaction to the mercenaries accepting their job back despite the mercenaries not being given any information and how their current life (some of them have their life improved after lose their mercenary job) is actually better than before. And if ya look at his final moments (which is a FNAF reference btw, a reference to purple guy’s death. They both die in a room with 1 door, high humidity and surrounded by their enemies who are very angery). He said:” ...I would have....”. which suggest that he’s having second thoughts about his plan, which also clouded his judgment, preventing him from foreseeing tfc heavy’s betrayal. Not to mention how he bring his adopted child to his hunt for miss [REDACTED] for obvious reasons suggesting that he isn’t adopt some kid for that one purpose.

TL:DR: Saxton bad, killing animals, not giving a damn to his company that is in danger of getting destroyed, uses metal drugs, have schizophrenia.
- Gray Mann gud, ended a 150 year war, striking fear into Mannco mercenaries everywhere, indirectly ends the extinction spree caused by Saxton, spare his enemies and allowed them to start a new life instead of outright killing them (only to find himself dying in his own very clean cell).

But Gray’s evilness is necessary evil. If he never attacked mannco, the mercenaries would never found their true potential, countless animals species extinct for giggles, even more people would die from the corrupted government and high amount of metal in the water (gray’s global domination would have stopped those) and Merasmus would have to spend an eternity getting teased (in a profanity way) by soldier.

2. If he wanted to live forever, he wouldn’t have brought Olivia to the searching of Miss [REDACTED] and tell her some information about his operations. And he would have spend most of his time hunting down magical items and relics like a racist dictator instead of going after the people he’d spared for endangering his plans.

So what, i just proved that he’s one of the least evil characters. And well known historical heroes did bad things too. JFK disrespected womans, Ghandi publicly declares that he hates black people, Columbus makes all the islanders in the land he founded into slaves. So nobody is truly good, no true black or white. Just a bunch of gray shades.
